Peter Feldmann & The Very Lonesome Boys - BG Show Goleta 11/7/2009 The Very Lonesome Boys Bluegrass Shows Peter Feldmann & The Very Lonesome Boys, among California's premier bluegrass bands, are planning two November concerts in the Santa Barbara County area. They will be held Saturday, November 7th, at the Live Oak Event Hall, 820 N. Fairview Avenue in Goleta, California, and Saturday, November 21st, at the The Santa Ynez Valley Grange Hall, 2374 Alamo Pintado Avenue, in downtown Los Olivos California. Both shows will begin at 8:00 PM. A singer and multi-instrumentalist with many years’ performing experience throughout California and the West, Peter Feldmann* has been presenting bluegrass, folk, string band, and related musics since the early 1960's, and is known as the founder of the Santa Barbara Old Time Fiddler's Convention, and the original Bluebird Café in Santa Barbara, a music club highly influential on the Southern California Music scene. Peter is the recipient of the 2008 "Music Legend" award from the Topanga Banjo/Fiddle Association, and last year taught a string band performance class for the Department of Music at UCSB. The five-piece Very Lonesome Boys band includes bassist Tom Lee, veteran of the Cache Valley Drifters and The Bluegrass Cardinals, The banjo duties are ably handled by record producer David West (Play Ball Productions), known for his dynamic guitar and banjo work, while Tommy Marton, a leading exponent of Texas contest style fiddling as well as bluegrass music, will preside on fiddle. Mike Nadolson, from Lake Elsinore, CA plays guitar and adds lead and harmony vocals to the band's sound. The band presents a stimulating mixture of bluegrass standards and re-visitations of earlier country music from the 1920s and 30s. The band's shows will feature selections from their recently-released CD, "Home On The Grange" as well as Peter's adaptation of some numbers from his new trio CD "Down By The Brazos", out this month. Goleta show tickets will also be on-sale at Jensen's Music on De La Vina Street in Santa Barbara. Tickets for the Grange Hall show will also be sold at the Book Loft in Solvang. Depending on availability, tickets will also be available for both programs at the doors, which open at 7:30 PM. |
