Jonathan Tasini, Progressive Candidate for Senate from New York, in Santa Barbara 11/14/2009 For immediate release: Jonathan Tasini, senatorial candidate, activist, organizer and founder of the National Writers Union, will speak at 4:40pm on Saturday, November 14 at the Faulkner Gallery in Santa Barbara’s Central Library, corner Anacapa and Anapamu Streets. Tasini, a pro-peace/pro-labor candidate, is running for the senate seat held by New York’s Kirsten Gillibrand, appointed to replace Hillary Clinton who resigned to serve as U.S. Secretary of State in the Obama administration. Tasini ran a strong campaign against the much better funded Clinton in the Democratic primary for senate in 2006, essentially to give voice to the Out of Iraq movement.
