Bounty of the Valley Dinner and Auction - Alisal Resort and Guest Ranch, Solvang, CA Date: 3/9/2013 Come celebrate the Santa Ynez Valley's bounty of foods and wines Saturday, March 9, during a debut event, "Bounty of the Valley," featuring a benefit reception and dinner at the Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort in Solvang, The reception begins at 5 p.m., and will feature a selection of wines from local winemakers, as well as appetizers created by the Alisal's chef, Pascal Gode. A silent auction will take place during the reception and feature both local and regional wines, many of them difficult to procure, as well as a Marketplace of local produce and products. Other special items available will include gift certificates and baskets donated by many local Santa Ynez Valley businesses. Dinner includes a multi-course meal prepared by the chef and his staff, and will highlight local produce. Following dinner, a live auction will showcase items as varied as a signed Taylor Swift guitar, a fantastic vacation to Punta Mita, a dinner for 10 with special wines at ARU, and more. A highlight of the evening will be LEGACY. Available only at this event, LEGACY is a special blend of wine made from barrels contributed by 11 winemakers who either have, or have had, children or grandchildren attend The Family School of the Santa Ynez Valley, the beneficiary of the evening. The winemakers who contributed to this very special bottling are Jim Clendenen (Au Bon Climat), Bob Lindquist (Qupe), Joey Tensley (Tensley Wines), Morgan Clendenen (Cold Heaven), Ken Brown (Ken Brown Wines), Frank Ostini (Hitching Post Wines), Eric Coghlan (Coghlan Vineyard and Jewelers), Bion Rice (Sunstone Wines and Artiste), Mark Horvath (Crawford Family Wines) and Larry Schaffer (tercero wines).
