Why work here when you hate customers?, 1/26/2010
Reviewer: Leigh from Santa Barbara, CA
Went here on a Sunday afternoon. Several people, we all ordered coffee, pastries, etc. The girl at the cash register rolled her eyes, crossed her arms, very impatient and downright rude. The guys making the drinks, sandwiches, etc. were too busy with their conversation to do much. The coffee and chai was ok, but I see no need to spend my hard-earned cash in a place where I feel unwelcome and an inconvience. Won't be coming back here!

cash only?, 1/18/2010

they don't take cards, yet they have an atm inside to charge people money to pay even more for their food?? customer service much? And nicer service would be even better.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. great atmosphere, nice staff. The menu is great, simple yet delicious definitely try some of the salads. They cater to vegetarians which is always a plus. Casual cute.

Awesome sandwiches!, 7/28/2009
Reviewer: sandwich afisionado from Santa Barbara, CA
I love that this place is so casual and their food is delicious! Their selection of sandwiches is the bomb - they are so good and everything is so fresh. They have a great coffee selection too. And not to mention their smoothies but I just LOVE their deli. If you can appreciate a good sandwich, this is the place for you! You won't be dissapointed.

Fabulous Place For Coffee, 6/26/2009

This is the best place for coffee and muffins in SB, in fact I'd go as far as saying its one of the best I have found in the US. Muffins great, but no other food tried. Pleasant outdoor area, a great find!

Dumb Barista, 6/19/2009
Reviewer: Nancy from Santa Barbara, CA
So I have to admit the food and coffee at Daily Grind are fantastic. But the service is TERRIBLE...with the exception of one young lady, who corrected the order I placed with her co-worker, whom apparently had WAY more important things to do than take my order or give me the correct order after I placed it. I'm very laid back and rarely in a hurry, but it took this one particular barista (the dumb one, not the helpful one) approx. 20 mins to RECOGNIZE me (not to take my order, that took another 10 mins with her making side conversations and spacing out) Anyway, then she gave me the wrong stuff and walked away and refused to help me even though she had given me the wrong stuff. Honestly, in this case, it had nothing to do with having cash on hand (vs having used a card---which is way more convenient and I do tip when I use one) I didn't tip this idiot because I think she should be fired. There are plenty of people who need jobs, please stop hiring those with attitudes!!!

Ok food/service but negatives, 4/8/2009
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
Ok food/drink. Negatives are: very limited parking, no credit card use(ATM for a fee there), no ambiance to the place, limited seating, language problems with the "baristas", no friendlier than a taco stand to me with language issues and setting cups and food down and barking out numbers(has anyone been to a different coffee shop to compare when they say great service I wonder? Go to a Starbucks or Good Cup on the Mesa to compare). So all in all I will leave this one to the locals who prefer this place as I don't see the positives.

A+, 4/6/2009
Reviewer: Amber from Santa Barbara, CA
I'm a regular at the daily grind and I think their food is to die for! The muffins and scones are made fresh every day, as are the bagels (which come from Jacks Famous Bagels). They're sandwhiches are reasonably priced, and tasty! Also, if there's something that you don't want on your sandwhich, or would rather have something else on it, they can do it. The service is amazing and probably one of the main reasons I go. People that complain about the fact that it's cash only, or that the parking isn't great need to grow up. Park around the block and bring some spare change! I think it's well worth it.

Awesome Service, Nice Vibe, 3/24/2009
Reviewer: CS from Santa Barbara, CA
Even on a crowded morning the baristas and everyone working here hustle and get the job done with a friendly attitude. Never had a bad experience. The space is nice to relax with a friend or get some work done. The coffee is good, not my favorite in town, but I'm a real stickler when it comes to foam. Not as silky as could be, but far far better than the sea foam nonsense they serve at Starbucks. The baked items are pretty standard, but do the trick. The sandwiches are good too, only complaint is sometimes the bread isn't very fresh. Only other complaint is the clueless college kids scrounging the free wifi, never ordering anything, and taking up spots that paying customers could be using. Overall highly recommended.

BEST breakfast burritos!!!, 3/6/2009
Reviewer: April from Santa Barbara, CA
Their breakfast burritos are a MUST!!! I'm a vegetarian, so the spinach burrito is a nice option though sometimes you end up biting into a huge glob of it, which can be a little overwhelming. I usually get the regular burrito and nix the meat. Make sure to try the salsa...it's basically a little sliver of heaven!!

So Delicious--wish there was a daily grind in Pasadena!
Reviewer: Jen from Santa Barbara, CA
I've been working in Santa Barbara for the last month and am now (admittedly) addicted to the Daily Grind. I don't know whether it is their delicious and fresh muffins, their amazing scones or their amazing sandwiches (I LOVE the Summerland and the Local's Favorite vegetarian sandwiches--yum.) The coffee and fresh fruit are also delicious. This is the only place where the scones taste like the ones we make at home--usually scones bought at coffeehouses taste chemically or overly sweet. It's also nice that the scones and muffins are ginormous. I'm going to miss this place terribly when I go back to Pasadena. :( I also wanted to say don't let the reviews of the horrors of being a cash-only establishment keep you from visiting. I mean, really. The food is worth it. :)

Not Worth Fighting For Parking
Reviewer: Barbara from Santa Barbara, CA
I had an Italian soda and it was fine, nothing unique. I realize that it's a coffee shop, but I have had wonderful Italian sodas at other coffee shops. The bummer with this shop is the lack of parking. It takes quite some maneuvering and a lot of patience if you go when it's busy. Don't drink too much because the wait for the bathroom key can be awhile. The bathroom is outside of the main coffee shop area. You have to literally walk out the door and around the corner of the building, which is kind of awkward. They only take cash, so don't forget to get your cash before you come. Otherwise, you'll be stuck using their ATM, which charges you a small fee like other ATMs that are not specifically affiliated with a bank. If you're withing walking distance, you'll probably have a better time.

Cash Only!?
Reviewer: anonymous from Santa Barbara, CA
Just got back from the daily grind.....didn't get anything because it is cash only and stupid me had a credit card. they lost business because of their own stunborness/greediness (can't think of any other reason) to not want to accept plastic, (yet they will still charge people an ATM fee to shop at their place). i won't go back until they start accepting cards.
