Will not go back
Reviewer: Lesley from Santa Barbara, CA
I've been going to Woodys in Magnolia SC for decades. I was happy when the new location opened up, so when we walked in I was suprised it had the look and feel of a truck stop. The food is awful, like food you'd get at a truck stop. Overcooked and flavorless. The service was great however. We decided since the place was new to give them a second chance. Big mistake and that finalized the decision - we will not be back.

Fatty Prime Rib and Frozen, Fried Foods
Reviewer: Shanaynay from Santa Barbara, CA
So like, once I went there and ordered the jalepeno poppers and was expecting something for reals. Unfortunately, they were totally like those frozen kid-finger food poppers that they probably just dunked in some hot oil and served on a paper plate. So then, I ordered the tri tip sandwhich and it came with like 18 billion pounds of like, fried onions, which totally overpowered the meat. Then this other time I got enticed to order the prime rib, and when it showed up, there was a GIANT slab of fat running through it. Yay, just what I was craving... fat on a plate. mmmmm. not. Whatever! At least the nachos were for real. Definitely get the nachos you guys. Okay peeps... I'm outtie. Tee-tee-Why-El! Shimmery smooches for all. MWAH.

Hit the spot

Just what you'd expect of a bar and grill at the show grounds! I was there for an event and needed to kill some time. The place was not fancy, but comfortable. The food was good, and filled me up. You get what you pay for.

How to not write a bad review?
Reviewer: Stuart from Santa Barbara, CA
Plenty of free parking. More convenient locate for those of us living in SB than the Goleta branch. My beef ribs were big. If you like sweet BBQ sauce you will like the sauce here. The French fries were the kind with skin still on which is OK with me. "A once in a lifetime experience."

Great place, excellent food!
Reviewer: Ali from Santa Barbara, CA
I have been to Woody's Roundup at Earl Warren quite a few times. I LOVE the food, and the service is great. Their ribs are SOOOO good!!! My five year old even asked for more. The meat was tender, fresh, cooked just right, and fell right off the bone into my mouth. YUM. I've also had their onion rings, fries, Chicken tenders, and many other items, all of which were absolutely delicious. I'd like to also address some of the other comments left on this site. GOOD GRIEF! To the Vegan: Why would you go to a BBQ/steakhouse?? Go get your kicks somewhere where they serve your kind, like Natural Cafe-an excellent choice for vegans. That way you dont have to complain about places who I'm sure did not appreciate your measley order of fries and veggies when you knew they were busy serving their customers who actually eat from main dishes in the menu and not a take-out of an appetizer on a night of celebration. Are you kidding me?? On the Atmosphere. I happen to like to hear those I am eating with. I like that it's not so overstuffed with yabbing people that I can't enjoy my meal or my company. I hated that about the Goleta Woody's, it was so cluttered and full of noise!! And can you say personalized service? I also like the TV's to watch the games, there is good light to see my food and my friends/family. Very inviting and relaxing place to eat!

Worse than terrible
Reviewer: Richard from Santa Barbara, CA
I have been a customer of Woody's in Magnolia for over 20 years. Love the place, especially their tri-tip sandwiches and fries. Was excited there was another woody's closer to my house. I ordered my usual but it came back anything but usual. The meat didn't even look like tri-tip it was almost white and the texture was like bad bubble gum that dissolves in your mouth. It tasted like it was boiled in water. I got the order to go a little late on a friday night and was starving, so you can imagine how bummed I was when I got home and found this thing I couldn't eat regardless of how much BBQ sauce I used. The fries weren't the same either, just greasy. I tossed the dinner. Love Woody's in Magnolia, at Earl Warren... NOT SO MUCH.

Good food, not fancy
Reviewer: Alan from Oxnard, CA
Our family went in the other night and came out with our bellies full and feeling just fine. I had their tri-tip sandwich, my wife had the ribeye and others had the 'muleskinner' (burger) and such... The waitstaff was great and the food tasty and plentiful! I never have been able to finish all those fries, but they sure are good! Oh, and for that other reviewer that said they wish there was extra bbq sauce, why didn't you ASK for some?? I did!! The only thing bad I could say was that my 'Arnold Palmer' (ice-T and lemonade) didn't have enough ice-t in it!! But our waitress fixed that as soon as I mentioned it.

Smallest portion I've ever seen
Reviewer: Kay from Santa Barbara, CA
not my choice to eat here since I'm VEGAN but you take what you get when your company's paying for dinner. Since it was chilly, I ordered the only warm food non-animal option on the menu - steamed vegetables - with a side of french fries (someday maybe they'll add brown rice to their growing menu lol) - however was exceedingly disappointed when I opened the to-go large styrofoam container to find cold soggy fries and about 3 vegetables. I ordered the steamed vegetable entree! I am not kidding - about 3 forkfulls of flavorless carrots, broccoli and califlower. Tasted previously frozen. The portion was less than I would have expected for a "side" of vegetables. And they threw in 2 gross looking pieces of butter soaked bread that I didn't ask for or want. Plus there was mustard on the top of the inside of the container lid. Where did that come from? Was this not the first container for my food? Gross! Never will I go to this place by choice. If they weren't having a huge event there last night I would have marched my food over and demanded a refund. Instead I just gave it away and went to Saigon in 5 Points for brown rice.

Fair Food, not a steak house, large seating
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
I think the owners at Woody's figured they could make some money on fairground attendees and the rest of us. The seating in this place both inside and outside is huge. TVs throughout. A full bar also. None of the garage clutter stuff of the other place. The menu is a bit different, apparently they said they will add the 1/2 chickens etc eventually. This is not a steak house, it just pretends to be one. Food here is geared for Fairground tourists I'm sure. Waitresses nice. Baby back ribs were anything but and were pretty tough and fatty, they put the sauce on to make it all better but it does not do the trick. Their tri tip bullwhacker sandwich is pretty tasty though. For those who have not tried Carps BBQ Company it may be worth the trip. AJ Spurs in Buellton is good also. I think this place will do well catering to the fairground attendees but for more authentic bbq try one of the other places.

Not like the other Woody's
Reviewer: Russell Lombardo from Santa Barbara, CA
Wow, perhaps the worst steak I've ever tried to eat. My wife and I decided to try this new Woody's location at Earl Warren on Sunday night. It's never a good sign when the parking lot is empty and the only waitress is outside visiting with another employee. I first ordered the fried chicken, only to discover they don't have breasts, only the less desirable, inexpensive pieces. So I decided to try the special rib-eye steak special. We were essentially the only customers in the restaurant portion of the place. There were one or two in the bar area. The steak was served covered in onion rings. Now I know why, the steak was so fatty that I literally was unable to find any meat. It was perhaps the worst steak I've ever encountered. The waitress was apologetic, but offered no discount. We paid full price for a very bad steak meal. My wife had the baby back ribs and said they were pretty good, but there was no extra BBQ sauce like the Magnolia Center Woody's offers. If people think this is similar to the other Woody's they will be unpleasantly surprised.
