Ok so another attempt at a deli. You know it feels bad because everyone is so nice but this is a poor poor attempt at a deli. First off when you arrive there is no where to be in line, the cashier is on the wrong side. You look like your going to create your own like at subway but they make your sandwich when they want, and you better have time to wait and wait. No sense of urgency on the sandwich making.
No where to wait for it but outside.
Here is where it goes wrong, ordered a cold cut sandwich from there specialty menu.
Bread is a cross between am pm and ralphs but more dense and full of sugar or corn syrup as low quality as can be, threw most of it out gross. Says baguette on the menu this was lousy heavy not edible Italian loaf. Cold cuts were ok but really lacked pizzazz. Then to make things worse their relish makes the entire sandwich taste like a bad dessert so so much sugar, gross! At ten bucks without tax your better off going to 7 eleven's questionable fridge for a sandwich at a quarter the price and same level of quality.
You know it's nice to try to be different or do cutting edge things like gluten free but if you can't make a simple sandwich edible than why bother. Fix your bread and no more sugar please or I will never come back and I recommend others to beware!
Yummy, yummy sandwiches!, 10/26/2012

This seems to be a family business, with the owners present at the shop helping to serve customers!
Decor is cute, clean and inviting for such a small space.
They serve Boars Head deli meats. One owner told me for the crispy chicken sandwich, they cook the chicken fresh on site. I have tried the Chipotle Turkey sandwich, and the Turkey Club with Avocado. Both were awesome! Meats are fresh and have great flavor. Bacon was crispy crunchy with generous slices. Avocado was perfectly ripe. Breads are fresh, the ciabatta on the chipotle sandwich was perfectly soft-chewy. Their chipotle sauce was SO good! Gives a great extra kick of flavor to the sandwich, but not overwhelming.
This is a great alternative to South Coast Deli, especially nice for people who work downtown near Paseo Nuevo, as the location is convenient. Pricing/portions are similar to S.C. What I like better about Pickles and Swiss is for the toasted sammies, they are warm all the way through!
They also sell some nice looking artisan pickled goods, and housemade lemonade including some flavored versions I overheard another customer raving about! They have brewed coffee and Honest iced tea- good for mall employees needing a quick fix!
Nice to support a local business, and I think they picked a good location in the mall.
