Tasty!!, 8/17/2014

I am thankful that Book Ends Cafe is in the neighborhood! Overall the food is great, prices reasonable and the convenience of the patio is a bonus. One tiny suggestion to the owners; ease up on the oil in the side dishes, such as the roasted vegetables. Quite often I find myself blotting the salads with a napkin or wiping a forkful on the paper that is on the serving tray. With that said, I hope Book Ends is around for a very long time!

well worth a visit, 6/26/2014

Book Ends Cafe atop the Antioch building made a great lunch. We had a tasty three-scoop salad - good portions from several options in a container - and a brisket bahn mi sandwich which was excellent and a worthy alternative for Blue Owl's version. Order at the counter and take a number; server delivers. Staff were friendly and service quick, so great for grab-and-go, sit inside, or relax on the large patio with umbrellas and tables.

The food is excellent. Their sandwiches and salads are excellent. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this small eatery.

Great View & Great Food!
Reviewer: Matt from Santa Barbara, CA
We found the Book Ends Cafe walking by Antioch (its on the roof), the food was great, they provide service with a smile, and there is a nice breeze and view from the rooftop deck. We tried the chickpea sandwich and the chicken sandwich (the Banh Mi was sold out, apparently it's that good!). I had half of each sandwich and within the first bite my heart was fluttering like a butterfly. Within the first five bites I knew I had found my new go-to lunch spot downtown! They don't just serve run of the mill deli sandwiches here, they serve gourmet sandwiches at reasonable prices, with great sides, and a cool drink selection. I can't wait to go back and try to get my hands on the Banh Mi! Anyone try it yet? Let me know how it is!

A Hidden Gem

Went here for lunch today with a friend, and it did not disappoint! I had the pickled beet sandwich and it was amazing. Homemade pickles came on the side that had a little kick to them. Everything they make looks wonderful and very healthy. We sat on the outside patio which was lovely. A hidden gem in downtown Santa Barbara.

Useful Book Ends

This is an interesting new restaurant by husband-wife team of Dominic Shiach and Carmen Deforest. Tasted their cooking--it's Carmen's actually- previously at a catered meal and everything worked. At Book Ends my wife and I both had brisket Banh Mi--nice combination of meat and pickled veggies. Good Arnold Palmer, too. We'll be back.

Excellent Sandwich
Reviewer: Andrew from Santa Barbara, CA
Just went to Book Ends for the first time & the Brisket Bahn Mi Sandwich was delicious. The meat was juicy & flavorful and the pickled carrots & radish along w/the jalepeno vinaigrette were super tasty. The sandwich was a good size, too, and they didn't skimp out on the meat. EXCELLENT SANDWICH. The side of sweet pickles was a perfect compliment. Looking forward to my next trip.
