A Sad Experience
Reviewer: Sharron from Santa Barbara, CA
Today a friend and I tried Verde for lunch since we both are keen on quality Mexican food. We did not realize the direction of the place changed from Mexican to a menu with no particular emphasis. Two people were sitting at the bar inside and we were the only ones at a table. The waitress handed us menus which were obviously dinner menus rather than the lunch one outside. She disagreed with us that we had the wrong menus originally, but shortly came back with the correct ones. We placed our orders with her, asked for some bread and water while we were waiting. The water came, but no bread. By now 15-20 minutes passed. We asked for bread again. A kitchen staff person passed our table and we told her that we had asked twice for bread. Eventually, the kitchen help brought a basket of bread. Shortly, the waitress came over to our table (the place was still empty) and reported that our order was lost in the computer and asked what we wanted again. Thirty minutes into our lunch time and we'd had one bite of bread. We made a hasty exit. Such a sad experience!

We walked out

After ordering our drinks we were informed later that they didn't have merlot, ok, how about some Cabernet Sauvignon. When the wine arrived I swear there was one inch of wine in the glass. My friends still were not served their drinks. People were going up stairs near our table because there was a comedy performance. After someone fell coming down the stairs we decided to leave. I apologized to the NEW waiter and went to a place down the street.

Horrible experience !!!! Not recommended.

My wife and I went to Verde today for a quick lunch. It was a new restaurant and she wanted to try it. The atmosphere was just okay with Muzak playing on the speakers and front of house that is confusing/non-inviting. Reminds me of when Mimosa came downtown. You are just not sure if you're supposed to seat yourself or wait for someone to come outside and invite you in. Our waitress was nice, prompt and friendly. That's pretty much all I can say for the restaurant. We ordered two chicken burgers and waited over 30 minutes patiently. I would understand if they were busy, but we were the only two people in the entire restaurant. We have our waitress a concerned look and she went to the kitchen door, asking the two cooks about the order. 5 minutes later we received our lunch. They were such appalling looking chicken burgers that I already knew what was coming next. Yep you guessed it. Probably the worst tasting meal I've had in a while. Each meal was $13.00. We literally could have gotten a Habit burger for $5 bucks that tasted a million times better. I picked through my frozen then cooked chicken breast and left the rest on the plate. My wife did the same. She actually apologized for picking this restaurant. It's that horrible. Unless something drastic changes I think this restaurant will be closed soon.
