Fantastic!
Reviewer: Krista and Tony from Goleta
Wow what a great addition to the SB palate of flavors and styles. My wife and I went there for my b-day recently because I wanted to get some real deep-dish pizza. Patxi's did not disappoint. Of course an inch+ deep pie is going to take some time to bake and our server duly warned us that it would be 30+ minutes (and it was just barely 30) but luckily they have 20 beers on tap so there's plenty to keep you busy while you wait :-). I'll be frank here and I'll say I think this is the BEST Pizza in town by far. The best within a hundred miles for sure. Unfortunately many peoples taste in pizza has been blunted by the limited selections available, especially in a smallish town like SB. I've been really lucky to have had pizza all over the country and let me say Patxi's is the real deal and something that should definitely be experienced :-)

Sadly, not very good

It's a beautiful place, wonderfully remodeled but that's where the charm ended for me. After we placed our order the waiter informed us it would be a 45 minute wait and did we want to get some appetizers? I held off for about 20 minutes before I ordered the the artichoke dip. It came out about 10 minutes later (so maybe 30 minutes since the pizza order) The dip was not very warm and kinda meh. About 2 minutes later our food came (almost 15 minutes earlier than we were told) I never would have wasted 10 on the app if they had given me an accurate eta on the pizzas. We got both thin and deep dish pizzas. I found both to be disappointing in quality and flavor. A $30+ pie should be something to rave about, not something to muddle through. Then there was the service... the waiter seemed to be trying really hard to provide good service and he was a nice enough guy but things just took so long... water refills were forgotten, a box for the leftovers took about 5 minutes but the real kicker was he seemed like the only one in the place doing anything. There were other employees standing around not doing anything while this guy was running his ass off. It took about 20 minutes to get the bill payed (I finally walked to the bar and asked for the manager) She was kind enough to drop one of the pies off the bill (they had gotten that part of the order wrong) which I really appreciated but overall I just can't see spending that much money for a pizza I didn't enjoy as much as a Rusty's pie.

Great Salad and deep dish pizza

Our first time at Paxti's. We started with the best artichoke dip I've ever had served with thinly sliced brioche. It wasn't greasy like some I've had. Then we had their chopped salad and it was delightful; fresh crisp greens with chopped chicken and salami served with a wonderful vinegrette dressing! While we were enjoying these precursers, we ordered a deep dish Spinach pizza and enjoyed taking our time eating and watching the activity along State St. We sat at an outside table. The pizza took exactly 45 minutes as we were told and it was incredible. We had a medium and took half of it home! The tomato sauce was the tastiest I've had and a wonderful crust. Two pieces each were just right for us and we took home 4. The service was excellent. We will definitely go back and I suggest trying the deep dish pizza, it's worth the wait and the price.

Great Experience

Service was great, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We had the meatball appetizer! highly recommend it. We had a thin crust pizza with pepperoni and sausage for the kids and prosciutto and arugula for the adults. They were both delicious! we will definitely be coming back !

Nice meal, but a little expensive

We ate at Paxti's the other night, arriving shortly before 6. They were very nice and sat the two of us in a booth that could have sat six. The waitress was very nice. I ordered a Danish red lager, and it was flat when it arrived. I am not sure if that's a brewing issue or a dispensing issue, but I drank it anyhow. My wife couldn't find a beer she liked, so she ordered wine instead. I had the ceasar salad, which was nice. My wife had the Brussels sprout salad, which she enjoyed. For the mains, we each ordered 10" thin crust pizzas. They were tasty, but seemed expensive for the size. (My picante pizza was over $19.). Overall, it was a very pleasant, very tasty meal, just not worth the total cost. That being said, their signature pizza is deep dish and takes 45 minutes to prepare. Since we didn't have it, I can't comment on it.

Great location...but that's all worth talking about...
Reviewer: Allison from Santa Barbara, CA
Went there for dinner the other night with my husband. We were excited since we are both pizza freaks and loved the look of the new location. It was busy and the food smelt wonderful...adding to the excitement. Ordered the bruschetta for an app. It was very yummy, though not set up in the typical style. I'd order this again, but wouldn't go there just to have it. Ordered a pizza to split...had sausage that tasted like breakfast sausage, barely any sauce (which was fine as it was also very sweet), and the crust was just bad. Tasted more like a Celeste pizza rust than anything else. In addition, the prices for the pizza size and quality is just silly. We sat at the outside bar which was nice but we basically became invisible after sitting there. All in all, it doesn't seem like kinks for a new opening but simply not high quality taste for the SB standards. Any other pizza place in town would be better for the money and experience.
