My wife and I recently dined at the new Angel Oak restaurant at the Bacara Resort which opened in June. The food was phenomenal and I enjoyed one of the best steaks I ever had. I ordered the bone-in Rib Eye (16 oz USDA Prime) with mash potatoes & wild mushrooms while my wife enjoyed the Rack of Lamb (house-made harissa apricot purée) with Asparagus Salad. The Restaurant Kid of course ordered the made-from-scratch Mac & Cheese (which effectively ended our ability to serve the boxed stuff from Kraft at home). Our meals started off with the Blue Crab Cake and Roasted Bone Marrow, accompanied by a spectacular ocean-view sunset, and ended with the Molten Chocolate Cake and Apple Cobbler, served sizzling at your table. All in all, a great experience.

Wow, just wow! This is one of the best dining experiences I (and my two guests) have ever had. We had dinner reservations on 10/1 and from the moment we walked in we were treated like queens. Brandon, the General Manager greeted us and sat us outside with the most amazing views! It was my birthday and he gave us a celebratory glass of champagne. I noticed Brandon with the other tables too, he's so attentive, authentic and passionate about what he does and it shows up with the rest of his team. Our server, Hallie was an ABSOLUTE joy! She knows exactly how to engage with the guests and made the best recommendations for appetizers, entrees, wine...EVERYTHING. She offered to take our photos with the beautiful sunset and was just so fun throughout our entire dining experience. Nanette, the sommelier, was also fantastic! She came over to our table and made excellent recommendations and she was just a pure joy as well. The food, the food, the food!!! My friend ordered the NY strip and said, "this is the best steak I have ever had!" She has been to wonderful restaurants in the area and this was hands down the best steak. I had the scallops and they were mouth watering!! My other guest had the halibut and she said it was perfectly cooked. You must go to Angel Oak. When I dine, I'm always looking for two things. The perfect ambiance AND food. I typically get one or the other. With Angel Oak you get the entire experience. Run, don't walk. You won't regret it!! Thanks again Brandon, Hallie and Nanette!! Thank you for making my birthday so special. We'll be back!!
