Outstanding, beautiful, romantic, hidden gem of a restaurant at the Lemon Tree Hotel on State Street. Well worth a visit. Will return absolutely!

Oscar makes a mean Patron Margarita and Chef Christian Perez makes, (at least in my opinion) the best Ceasar Salad in Santa Barbara

When you just can't decide, choose Crocodile
Reviewer: Jinelle
from Santa Barbara, CA
You know when you want to go out for dinner and just can't decide on where to go? This is the place because it has so many good things going for it and it covers all bases no matter what dining mood you or others might be in. Great atmosphere to make the event feel special without being pretentious or an effort; variety in the well-priced menu to always find something that intrigues the tastebuds; and solid delivery of the range of what they offer. We had the burger with salad and fries and the beef stroganoff with spinach tagliatelli - both very good and hit the exact spot our prior indecision about where to go needed satisfying. No question but to top if off with the decadently rich coconut cake - best to share one slice or plan on taking it home. Crocodile is our go to home away from home - better than home cooking, still homey enough to be welcoming, but special enough to feel one has had a very nice night out.

We had such a great time at the Crocodile. Our meals were so tasty. I had the chicken tacos, and many bites of my husbands pesto Salmon spaghetti. We splurged on a Coconut cake... everyone was so nice, and the atmosphere was perfect. I found a new favorite spot.

Work Lunchers: Plan on staing the afternoon
Reviewer: Sarah Schapel
from Santa Barbara, CA
I called and placed a reservation 3 days before my coworker's actual birthday lunch. I specifically specified it was a work lunch, to ensure we wouldn't be waiting too long. There was 10 of us who majorily ordered paninis or salad. After the second round of bread, waters and an hour of waiting for our food we asked the "Manager" if we could get our food to go. The server, who was later identified as the "Manager" was cordial, but gave us no sense of urgency or sincere apology and made it seem like a nonchalant situation to the absolutely slow service. We finally got our food to-go with $40 off our bill by an hour and 15 minutes. I would have rather dined at Burger King than wait for small portions, horrendous service and loud noise from construction that they apparently are doing. PASS, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT SERVICE!

The best breakfast place
Reviewer: Charlotte
from Goleta
My favorite breakfast spot. The BEST Eggs Benedict I've ever had! And that's saying something! They also make a mean Bloody Mary😃. Lovely and relaxing setting, never crowded and the wait staff is efficient but not always cheerful and personable, (which doesn't bother me, like previous critics) The staff has never been rude by any means. The only thing I'd complain about is the utter lack of Cholula!? Tabasco sucks!

Disappointed & unwanted guest
Reviewer: Joe E.
from Santa Barbara, CA
My first reaction after entering the Crocodile was the place looks nice & very well kept. My attitude quickly changed after walking in to the greeter. Her attitude was unfriendly and rude.
Not a smile or hello as we walked up. The behavior continued as she sat us a our table. At this point still no greetings as to her name or who would be waiting on us. It continued as she came back with water but not a word was spoken to our party.
We had a gut feeling that she did not want to speak to us and that we were unwanted guest. We then decided to take our business to a place with a better vibe and better service.
Management MUST address this type of behavior. We refuse to step foot in the Crocodile again.

We felt we were uninvited guests!
Reviewer: Miranda
from Long Beach, Ca
The restaurant seems to be nice and classy...but the greeter and waitress were not. Their poor manners and lack of courtesy took away from the restaurant. When we walked in, my party and I were barely acknowledged and our waitress ignored us. We were seated and served water without our waitress saying one word to us. We ended up walking out. If this is the type of service we can expect, we will NEVER go back.

This place was so much fun! I loved the food. The chef is awesome. I really feel I had the best eggs benedict I have ever eaten as well as calamari, etc., etc. This place is totally underated. The staff is great, the chef is really quite exceptional. I tried to get him to move to San Diego!! Try it you will definately go back again. I know I am!!

Thanksgiving Dinner Disappointing
Reviewer: William
from Santa Barbara, CA
We had Thanksgiving dinner here with friends. We were able to get last minute reservations without a problem. Nice Atmosphere, we were seated quickly, the young waitress was pleasant, but a bit forgetful. The disappointment was the food. The appetizer of rustic bread and tapenade was very tasty, but the rest of the dinner left something to be desired. The main course was bland and the stuffing had a strange texture. One person's plate had to be sent back because it was cold and it took a long time to get it back. When we made the reservations, we asked about dessert and we were given to understand that dinner came with dessert - it did not, which made the reasonable price less reasonable. We might return to give them another chance, but probably not for Thanksgiving.

Tapenade is top notch. Mac and cheese = awesome. Ambience is surprisngly fancy. Overall, kind of classy joint. Much nicer than the expected corner hotel restaurant.

hidden gem!

Fresh pastas and sauces made onsite, excellent burger, strong drinks, and outstanding service. Comparable to typical SB prices and generous portions. Hotel and restaurant have undergone total revamp over past two years, so they are getting progressively more busy.

a find!
Reviewer: charlotte klein
from Goleta
Last Sunday my family spent an hour looking for a place to have breakfast and not have to wait for 1/2 hour! We live in Goleta, so we started with Cajun Kitchen (mobbed), Cody's, both IHOPs, Garret's, even Denny's! All mobbed!?! Then we drove by the Lemon Tree and I remembered that they had a restaurant. I was like as oasis in the middle of the desert and we were starving at this point! We were the only patrons for most of our meal!?! The ambiance was very nice, we sat on the patio where it was serene. Our server was fine ( she better be, as we were it for most our brunch) The food was EXCELLENT! The BEST Eggs Benedict ever! Perfection. The english muffin was toasted and buttered, lovely, thinly sliced grilled ham, perfectly poached eggs and the PERFECT Hollandaise! Yes this was a mirage in the middle of a culinary desert! My husband and kids loved their omelettes and my husband and I had the BEST Bloody Mary ever! We were all laughing because we couldn't get in to IHOP and Denny's and look where we were, having a civilized brunch for only a few dollars more per person!! Instead of the loud, crowded greasy spoons we were considering earlier! This is our new place indeed. I hope it's still as good when it's busy!
