The staff here is always super friendly and attentive and the food is portioned perfectly! It's easy to feel at home with the warm and inviting atmosphere. I come here on a regular basis and have never had anything but a perfect experience. Not to mention the bar tender on thursday nights serves a mean cocktail. Great place to bring visiting family for dinner or spend time with friends to grab a few drinks.

Lots to choose from here and the seafood pasta did not disappoint nor did the chicken fried steak. This was good, stick to your ribs food. Good, fresh bread. Everything was cooked and prepared very well. Front of the house and service could stand for a review, as it seems there is no supervision of the floor staff. Back of the house seems pretty solid.

I strongly agree with the other review here, that this place has decent food but bad service! I was there today for a late lunch. Our waitress which was a young lady took our order, brought it over and never checked back with us, not even once. Take it that she was not busy and we even saw her hangout behind the counter speaking to other employee's and even dancing being silly. It was ridiculous, I couldn't believe what horrible service I received at the Mesa Cafe and if they don't improve on their service, there are so many other great restaurants in SB where I could not only get great food but their service is a lot better.

Okay...I love going to the Mesa cafe. We've been going for the last 8 years. Well, we went on a Monday morning around 11am, which is off-peak. We were happy because we "thought" the service would be decent. There were about 4 tables in the restraunt and our server, who thought bartending the two people at the bar was more important, left us waiting 10 minutes until he finally asked what we'd like to drink. Then it took another 15 minutes for him to take our order. Mind you, he only had ONE other table. Not once did he apologize for his neglect. He knew we were not too happy, and just acted like it was no big deal. His main priority was the bar, sporting his sunglasses every now and again and doing nothing behind the bar. It was frustrating to have that kind of service when the restaurant was actually slow and no sense of accomodation.

I eat at the Mesa cafe often because I live close by. I love the people who work there. If I could I would do some fixing up on the menu. I would make the eggs with some club soda to lighten up the dry omelets. I would buy the chicken breast from someone else. They seem kinda processed. Not real . Leaves me feeling bloated. I would add some things to the salads to make them more interesting. seeds,scallions,red cabbage, and carrots so on. I would love to give them my homemade salad dressing. The fried potatoes could be better also. I would start with making sure they do not come frozen..and I would add less salt to the soups . I guess I would try to make B food, A food. I will still go there and eat as the food is Good- and the party atmosphere is just too fun to miss! All in All it just needs a little help. I would love to be able to help as I am a very good cook, and I have been cooking for 30 years..everything from scratch. The service is wonderful. All of the wait people are happy and good at what they do. The manager is also very nice.
