Good Food but not sure the best in the area, 7/8/2009
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
The food was definitely in my opinion not as good as Meun Thai, Pattaya or Bangkok Palace, I have not tried the lower State ones either to compare which apparently are good too. Maybe because this place has been around so long its a favorite. Not having bean sprouts in a pad thai and having cabbage instead is a definite downer in rating Thai food for me. The Chicken Satay was Good. Fairly small place(they use mirrors to make it look bigger) so don't plan on large groups here. Neighborhood(relative for SB) is not that great. People Nice. Maybe they have more exotic entrees here that they are more famous for, if so let people know while reviewing places.

WRONG Place Thai was wrong, of me...., 6/2/2009
Reviewer: Jack and Diane from Santa Barbara, CA
With the widespread proliferation of Thai cuisine in this town, you might think that Your Place occasionally would be bumped from first place in The Independents readers’ poll. Never yet, however. This cozy little lower Milpas Street eatery was the first Thai restaurant to open in town more than two decades ago and it has been the undisputed Best Of champion ever since. Casually fine with a hopping, lively atmosphere, Your Place has become as familiar to the town as its name implies. I'm sorry for the poor review I left earlier. I was very wrong about this place.

CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT, 5/23/2009
Reviewer: Charles Hall from Boise,Idaho
Having eaten here since it's opening every time I come back to S.B. I reinforce my belief that this place offers the best value for the dollar of any place in town. The pineapple fried rice is as tasty as it was 30 years ago and the coconut milk ice cream is superb.(The rice dish is no longer served in pineapple shells but the huge portions are just as they were at the beginning and only slightly higher in price.)

Popular but mediocre, 4/19/2009
Reviewer: Paul from Santa Barbara, CA
I have worked next door for 8 years and I enjoy Thai food frequently, but go there only about 1-2 times per year when it is not my choice, and still can't understand why it gets good reviews. The food is average to poor- sometimes had dry BBQ chicken or wrong order, and the waitresses did not have any sympathy. In fact the 2 waitresses act despondent as though they are prisoners there. The salad is tasteless iceberg and tomato! Also it really is in the ghetto like other reviewer stated- bums are continuously in the parking lot or Allarie alley behind, and once an unisured driver ran into my car in front.

Great Food, 2/23/2009

It really upsets me to hear someone say that this is a horrible place and that it is in the ghetto they should be accustomed to the ghetto being from LONG BEACH. I live in the neighborhood and that truly offends me. I have been going to this place since I was a kid and I truly love it. Service may need some work but hey the food makes up for it! I always leave with a full stomach and always have some left-overs to take home. The food is not pricey at all, its Santa Barbara get used to the prices, most restaurants here are local. Not a chain restaurant were everything is cheap and served in bulk. But I love this place and recommend it to anyone looking for really good Thai food!! Nevermind the comment underneath me!

Mediocre food, below average service, 1/3/2009
Reviewer: Chris from Santa Barbara, CA
My wife and I moved to Goleta 5 months ago and have been on the hunt for a great thai food restaurant. Back home in Long Beach, we had Siam Palace, which was a great little place that served delicious pad thai for $6.75 a plate (large portion size too.) I was hoping to find a place similar to Siam Palace near Santa Barbara and, unfortunately, I'm still looking. ------ Your Place was the first place I tried out. Apparently it has won tons of awards for being the best in the city (they are literally plastered all over the wall near the entrance,) and a friend recommended the restaurant to us. ------ The restaurant is not in a good area. I didn't know that Santa Barbara has its own version of a ghetto, and this place is right in the middle of it. Very small place, but they dress it up nicely inside. -------- The waitress sat us down near an extremely loud group of people and we asked to be moved. The first request was met with some protest by the waitress. "No, sorry, we don't have space." I pointed to a table across the restaurant and she finally agreed to move us. She asked for our drink orders and 10 minutes later we had something to drink. Oh, no free refills either. Asian food restaurants must be the last establishment left that does not offer free refills. I'm glad to see that SOME of these restaurants have come to their senses ---------- I ordered the pad thai, which is what I order everytime I try out a new thai food restaurant. Considering it is the signature dish of Thailand, I use it as a gauge... if the pad thai is good, then the rest of their food will probably be good as well. The reverse is also true, in my experience. I was shocked to see that the price of pad thai was nearly double what I paid in Long Beach. I believe it was $11.95 -------- Received the meal in about 10 minutes. The small portion size is the first thing I noticed. The taste was very average. It had a sour, citrusy flavor that I am not too fond of. I have been to some thai restaurants where they load the pad thai up with lemon/lime juice, which competely takes over the flavor, in my opinion. Your Place seems apparently does the same thing. -------- Your place is average, at best. The location and ambience are poor, the service is below average, and the food is just OK. For the price, it is not worth it. The search continues...

Average All Around, 12/11/2008
Reviewer: Nicole from Santa Barbara, CA
This place is just average all around. They do have a great deal for lunch, hard to beat that price. However the location isn't the greatest and I'm not sure they'll be able to compete with Pattya.

Best Thai in town!
Reviewer: Shelley from Santa Barbara, CA
When you first enter the restaurant it looks like a mam and pop shop, which it is, but excellent food. My favorites are Thai iced tea, pineapple fried rice and pineapple curry! The customer service is generally good and they are quick to seat and feed you.

A weekly favorite
Reviewer: Brynan from Santa Barbara, CA
Ive been using this site for years but never contributed... Your Place Thai inspires me to post! Ive only had the Pad Thai and Curry Noodles, but I eat them regularly... about once or twice every two weeks for the last year, and have never been disappointed. I have a nut allergy and they have NEVER messed up on this... very rare! I usually get to-go, but the few times ive eaten there, Ive found the service and atmosphere to be very nice. Locals favorite!

Authentic and Consistant
Reviewer: Jan from Santa Barbara, CA
This is my favorite Thai food. I have ordered the Pad Thai, Spicy Chicken Noodles, Fried Rices, amongst several other dishes. The service is good, but I always call my order ahead of time and they have never failed to have it perfectly fresh and ready when we arrive. Our best friends who also live in SB love this place, too. We'll get take-out and get together frequently. This place is not for fancy dinners, but casual and authentic cuisine. If you're looking for great food, not pampering, this is tops. Absolutely delicious!

Simply delicious!
Reviewer: Mike G from santa Barbara, CA
We have yet to order anything twice and with the exception of The Golden Wings (dont bother) everything has been terrific! If I had to say anything bad at all would be that when you order Really Hot there, you get it, but on To Go orders, Really Hot is not hot at all. If you dig spicy, eat there. Otherwise, the soups are amazing, noodles fresh and delicious and the Basil beef incredible. Extra Hot all the time!!

Service could use some work
Reviewer: Alex from Goleta
The food at Your Place was excellent. The service was pretty bad. My biggest complaints: It took a long time to even get our order in and our drinks were delivered after the food. On top of these problems the servers never checked the status of the meal or paid much attention to us. We certainly would have ordered/drank more had the staff been more attentive. I would still recommend this place because the food was so good.

To Die For!
Reviewer: JustinM from Long Beach, CA
We had a table of 12 and every one of us agreed that it was the best Thai restaurant we've ever been to. Thinking back on it makes me hunngry!
