You can do better than this in Santa Barbara!, 1/24/2013

We thought we would try this neighborhood restaurant for something different. The person behind the counter (assume he was the cook, dishwasher, waiter, the whole staff of one). He was very pleasant and that's about where it ends. The premises were not very clean and the food did not taste fresh. We asked for fresh chips as what was served were stale and the salsas are nothing to write home about. You can do a lot better in the Santa Barbara area than this place.

Huevos Rancheros

I come here often for the huevos rancheros breakfast. Usually I bring a friend because their portions are generous. Not only are my huevos always excellent but the owner is always there and friendly. There is also a quaint little courtyard where they don't mind me sitting with my dog and reading the paper.

Food Good, Nice Owner

The Owner is the cook here I believe. The food was good. He converted the house from his mother's house I believe to start the restaurant a long time ago. No real parking except street parking(try around the corner). Looks like he handles money and food at the same time but maybe he washed his hands, I did not see. More of a local hispanic neighborhood eatery I think and worth a try if on San Andres. Varied menu. Self Serve soda out. Plenty of seating.

DIRTY
Reviewer: Sarah
from Santa Barbara, CA
I should have known when I walked in and no one else was eating there and looked up at the painted plywood menu board this was not going to be worth it. The entire place was filthy: despite the fact the place was empty there were abandoned tables that had not been cleared or wiped down, the floor was nasty dirty in the kitchen. The chips were stale and the salsa not exciting. At this point I am completely grossed out! I ordered a breakfast burrito as a safe bet. It was bland and edible. I could not have left fast enough. Don't eat here. (My recommendations are Los Arroyos, El Bajio.)

It's tasty, close to home and the price is right! Don't expect a fresh cóctel campechena de mariscos a la Acapulco ...but it's good. ;-)

fish tacos and family
Reviewer: Johann Sabbath
from Santa Barbara
The beer is cold and the fish tacos are excellent. The atmosphere and people make me feel at home. A few years ago, before Su Casa accepted credit cards, I ordered a meal and realized I wasn't carrying any cash. I offered walk down the street to the ATM, but the owner wouldn’t hear it. He handed me my receipt and told me I could pay him the next time I was in the neighborhood. From then on, when ever I’m in the neighborhood, I always hit up Su Casa for a fish taco.

I love this restaurant! The food is wonderful and the staff is friendly. Along with La Supa Rica, this is one of my favorite local Mexican restaurants.
