Good quality food..., 5/30/2010
Reviewer: Jessa
from Santa Barbara, CA
My husband and I checked out Jeannine's for a Sunday morning breakfast. We had always heard it was good, but never gone. The minute our plates hit our table, we knew it was going to be delicious. I was hoping it would be - the prices are a bit higher than the other breakfast places in town. I ordered a California omlette and fruit instead of potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my fruit was not the standard mix of fruit out of a container. The cheese in my omlette was also higher quality - no plastic orange stuff here. I would say this is tops I'd pay for a breakfast, especially with such meager portions, but you can taste the quality.

Good food, Nice people, 4/28/2010

This place has really good food. A bit pricey but worth it. The people are really nice there. Definitely check out the bathroom which has some funny old advertisements on the wall! They have various desserts there, I was talked into trying some day old wedding type cake as a "deal" which basically tasted like day old wedding cake! Seating in and out. Jeanine's has a number on this site you can call for take out orders for the three locations. Parking is sometimes tricky/hard here but go off hours(open late for lunch) for better parking.

Bring back Peet's coffee!, 3/16/2010
Reviewer: Ashley

We love going to Jeannine's to enjoy a cup of Peet's coffee. Last weekend, we were very surprised that Peet's has been replaced by Stumptown! Why change such a good thing? Nothing compares to the flavor and aroma of Peet's We are very disappointed and hope you reconsider.

Horrible ham and egg sandwich, 1/13/2010
Reviewer: Cynthia
from Santa Barbara, CA
I went to Jeanine's today and I ordered a ham and egg sandwich for breakfast, which was hot and cold. It was listed as a special, but it did not have a description. I thought the breakfast sandwich was going to be just that-ham and eggs, but it also had lettuce, tomatoes and cheese and a gravy type of sauce. The combination tasted horribly. Perhaps it was my fault for not asking the person at the counter what this entree included, but I also feel the price was expensive. I also ordered a cup of coffee, so it ended up being $14.00 for the sandwich and the coffee. Jeanine's bakery is overpriced.

Friendly service, amazing food, 10/20/2009

One of the most awesome parts of my week is getting to make time to have a leisurely breakfast by myself sitting outside on the patio at Jeannine's. I absolutely love the salmon and bagel plate with the fresh lemon wedge and amazing thin and perfectly delicious lox. The service is friendly, efficient and prompt and the place is clean, which means a lot to me. I'm hungry just thinking about it!

Rude server, 10/19/2009
Reviewer: Joe Kelly
from Santa Barbara, CA
The girl at the counter was quite rude and was rushing customers who were lined up to buy pastries. She was obviously harried due to the morning rush. The poor service colored my opinion of the food because it made me lose my appetite. I will not go back as a result.

This was the best french toast I've ever had. Caramelized bananas, buttery syrup, and perfectly cooked challah bread. Very cute and old fashioned atmosphere, friendly service and every pastry looked wonderful. Lots of choices and will definitely be back again.

Best Carrot Cake EVER!

If you're looking for an excellent carrot cake, call Jeannine's. I understand they don't bake it themselves but it is fabulous! Call a day ahead to order for a special occasion.

the food for all 4 of us was a little bit pricey, but then again, we were in Santa Barbara where everything is more expensive. The French Toast was one of the best I have had and their sausage had a nice rich flavor. My son, who is the pickiest eater of all time, really enjoyed his pancakes and bacon. The place is a bit crowded, but it is what it is and the family atmosphere lends towards an enjoyable eating experience. I was also impressed that the Barrista knew what a "dirty hot chocolate was" as I own a coffee kiosk and have found a lot of coffee places don't know what you are talking about. We will definately go back on our next trip north!

Cold food... Really?
Reviewer: Timothy Brooks
from Santa Barbara, CA
I took my wife here recently for a nice anniversary brunch on the recommendation of a friend. It didn't seem to be that busy a day but somehow still took nearly half an hour to get our food. By the time it had finally arrived it was hardly warm. In addition it was over cooked. I was baffled. The service was mediocre for the price (order at the counter and take a number, like Carls Jr.). It was a nightmare finding a place to park. The only saving grace was that my coffee, which was pretty good, came with a cat drawn in foam on it. Overall, however, it was a terrible experience and I will never come back again.

Decent Breakfast - Ok service
Reviewer: Mark
from Santa Barbara, CA
I have eaten at Jeannines Bakery a few times. it is a crowded place. The tables are really close together. You can hear everyone in there. I ate at the counter a couple of times and it's not even easy to get up and down from there with all of the clutter. The food was average to good.
