Depot was built by the Southern Pacific Railroad Co. in 1901 and
closed in 1973. It was boarded up for a long time before local
efforts to save it succeeded. Extensive restoration work was
necessary, but Goleta Depot reopened Oct. 10, 1982, during which
the building also was officially recognized as Santa Barbara County
Historical Landmark No. 22.
