Needs New Staff ASAP, 1/20/2009

I really enjoy the setup of this place. Open doors and outdoor eating area that shares with other nearby restaurants. However, this place has the poorest staff. A previous review said they live behind the place ang go all the time. Well, I do too and I have witnessed on several occassions the staff in the back smoking and it's not cigarettes. They are younger and have an attitude. It's very cold and intimidating. Good luck with business.

Fair food & Bad Service, geared for College Students, 9/8/2008

Go elsewhere for Sushi, quality and service not there. Only benefits I see is good people watching at the Freebirds IV corner. Took maybe 20 minutes waiting for servers who did not care about customers. Miso soup was cold. One server cared about watching his laptop and checking out girls, I guess expected in IV but lose the "Express" in your name esp with no customer line. Interior small and loud with the music.

I've eaten at Caliroll twice and both times I have been disappointed. Service is very laggy as you have to wait about 15 minutes for them to make your roll, even if the place is dead. The food wouldn't have been as bad if they had actually peeled the shells off the shrimp... I'd give them a higher rating, but such an oversight on food quality can make anyone lose their appetite. The food is inexpensive and they do give you large portions for what you pay.

the service is great, but the quality of the sushi is NOT. if you want a good chicken bowl it's a fine place to go, just not for sushi.

I frequent Caliroll Express as I live right behind it and this place is top notch as far as service, quality, and price. What more can be said? The entire staff is friendly, and tons of fun. Great place all around. -Matthew Burdman

Pretty good!, 3/7/2007

The food is surprising good for the price. I enjoy the spicy tuna roll and philly roll. The only downside is the slow service. The sushi makers are painfully slow in making the rolls and everyone who works there moves at a snail pace. Be prepared for 5-10 minutes wait.

I was actually surprised by the quality of the food and the tastefulness. I got the teri chicken bowl and it was actually good. Its good to know I can get good rice bowls in IV, since I am a college student who does not like to cook.

BEST FAST FOOD IN TOWN!!!, 11/4/2005

I have never tasted such delicious and fresh sushi until I visited Caliroll Express. I was so amazed by their foods and prices. They are even better than the high-end places I have been to. The staffs are courteous and knowledgeable about the menu, especially when you're overwhelmed by the variety. This has to be the premier sushi fast food restaurant in Santa Barbara. I have tried a lot and they don't compare!

Better than IV's Sushi Teri, 10/18/2005

I avoided this place for awhile as when I started going to the university it was a "Mika" Japanese place that I wasn't too impressed by. It was wrong of me not to go - their chicken teriyaki bowl is the closest I've eaten to my favorite of all time from Miyako in Long Beach. Their sushi is great in variety and plentiful, too - I reccomend the hand rolls with salmon and the Philly Playboy roll or the Rainbow roll.

Not bad, overpriced, 10/10/2005

The sushi is pretty good. The bowls are overpriced though. Friendly atmosphere, quick service.

Awesome food, great prices, 9/16/2005

great qualitiy sushi for cheap! Try the crunchy roll for a delicous meal. For the more daring, weekly specials are a must. Items include alaskan halibut and sweet shrimp head.
