Going to miss you, 6/20/2008
Reviewer: Kae from Santa Barbara/California
Zaffiro was a great family owned business whose team of hard working staff truly made it a great experience every time. It was one of the nicest restaurants in the Goleta area but casual enough to just drop in for a relaxed dinner as well. I loved the portions and the decor, but the people really made it great! Just wanted to give them one more pat on the back, and I know I speak for many when I say I'm going to miss you!!

Closing? Say it isn't so..., 6/17/2008
Reviewer: Winston B. from Santa Barbara, CA
I heard a rumor that Zaffiro is closing it's doors... Say it isn't so. I have always loved the food prepared by your hardworking cooks as well as the service provided by your dedicated wait staff, not to mention the amazing cocktails made by the bartenders and the outgoing management team. Your happy hour is great and everyone will miss your homemade desserts. Please respond.

Love the lunch specials, garlic bread, mud pie and salads, 5/10/2008

I love this restaurant. The lunch specials are great. I loved the ahi tuna sandwich. My daughter's steak sandwich was great. We love the garlic bread and the mud pie is incredible. They have huge, fresh salads as well that are delicious. The service is superb.

Wonderful Birthday Dinner, 3/4/2008
Reviewer: Meg from Goleta, Ca
For a second time visitor of the resturant, I was wonderfully pleased to see the food and the service didn't change even though it was a tad late on a busy Saturday night. My sister came to visit and wanted to take me out for my birthday. I suggested Zaffiro because my parents and I had a wonderful meal here a few months ago. Once again, the food was amazing, I got a birthday tiramisu, which I am usually not a fan of, and even it was delicious! My only complaint-the Strawberry Lemon Drop, did not have much strawberry lemon flavor, it didn't have very much flavor at all.

NO FLAVOR!!, 2/10/2008

My boyfriend and I recently went to Zaffiro for dinner before we went out for a movie. I ordered the Pasta Martini because it sounded unique and flavorful (jalapenos, vodka, cilantro, etc.)I'm sorry to say that even with all of those delicious ingredients the dish was bland and completely tasteless. My boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavolo (minus the almonds)and again the dish was bland. I'm being generous giving this restaurant a 2.5 for the food. However the long haired blond waitress was phenominal! Great job on service Zaffiro but I was tempted to send the food back. I hope you can work on the seasonings because I would like to give your restaraunt another chance

i was amazed at how much this place has improved in terms of quality of food, since the last time i came here. when i dined here last night, everything my friends and i ordered were great: the antipasta platter, meditteranean salad (huuuge bowl!) and the pizza margherita. the sourdough garlic bread that they serve while you wait for your order is awesome. although i didn't drink this time, their cocktail menu was very tempting! which makes me want to come back again very soon. service was consistent and attentive.

Even though we live in Goleta, sometimes we forget about Zaffiro. Luckily, my wife chose to go there for her birthday dinner and we were reminded of what a really good restaurant Zaffiro is. We all (my wife and two teenagers) ordered very different dishes ranging from the tortellini w/cream sauce to a pizza. All dishes were excellent, the service was excellent and they even serve Telegraph ales and beers. We now think of Zaffiro first whenever we want to eat out. T

I don't get out much often here, but when my folks came up to visit me for my birthday, this restaurant did not disappoint. The steak sandwiches were awesome, and the waiter Miguel was a mind reader for he filled my dad's coffee cup when my dad was thinking of having more coffee. It was not crowded and nice for a quiet sit down lunch. My dad hates going out to eat, but he said it was one of the nicest dining experiences he has had. :) Oh, and the mud pie is awesome!

Not so good....., 12/6/2007
Reviewer: Martin from Goleta
My family has been to Zaffiro many times with fair to good experiences until the other night. Our waitress started by forgetting my drink order. When my chicken parmesan came, it was so tough and dried out that I had to send it back. I do not make a habit of sending food back but this time I had to. My replacement meal took about 25 minutes to make it to the table even though the restaurant was relatively empty. My wife and son were long since finished with their meals so I had to get it to go. Their meals were good, btw. No attempt was made by the server to rectify the situation which I think was a mistake. Even a complimentary glass of wine or dessert would have made me feel better about the experience.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Martin: Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are very sorry that you had an unfavorable dining experience. We are striving to ensure this does not occur. Thanks for your heads-up. At Zaffiro it is our policy to provide our guests with the very best dining experience and we appreciate your patronage and feedback. We have posted your review on the staff information board and use your experience in our pre-shift meetings so that we may follow-up with the whole waitstaff team. This will assist us in seeing that each guests’ dining experience provided by Zaffiro is the very best. Please come in to Zaffiro again and identify yourself to the floor manager on duty or to us (Paula or Perry) and we will certainly provide you with a complementary glass of wine or one of our homemade desserts. We checked and our records show that our procedures were followed and your chicken parmesan was complementary. Your feedback about the chicken parmesan was particularly valuable to us at Zaffiro and re-confirmed a problem on our hot line we had recently been looking into. Firstly, at Zaffiro we prepare the dish from scratch and it does take approximately 20 minutes to cook and deliver this dish. Your waitstaff should have informed you of the cook time when you reordered the chicken parmesan, so that if you desired, you could have chosen a dish that took less time to prepare. Secondly, after sampling the chicken parmesan over several days prepared by different cooks, we found that one cook was not preparing the dish according to our recipe (Zaffiro’s recipe calls for the dish to be made in the traditional way, i.e., sautéing the chicken, which seals in the juices and enhances the taste of the dish). The cook was baking the chicken, which can make it dry and tough. Please give Zaffiro the opportunity to continue to provide you and your family a great dining experience. Zaffiro looks forward to being you and your family’s local Restaurant of Choice in Goleta. Thanks again for your feedback. Paula and Perry Ferguson, Owners of Zaffiro p.s.: Try Zaffiro’s homemade desserts next time you are in. They are gggreat!!!!!!!

with no intentions of cooking yet another night, we pondered on where to go...the criteria being - "classy, cozy, warm, inviting atmosphere", "delicious food" cooked in a healthful manner, gracious service - reasonably priced (we live in santa barbara, come on??!!)friendly service, easy parking...well, we thought of only one spot - "ZAFFIRO'S". this place has it all, and more! our party had the salmon piccata (to die for), the sporatini (sp) pasta - simply heaven and the gambagna sandwich, the best chicken this side of chickenville. moist, tender and packed full of flavour. as if this was not enough, we then gorged on "boocheesepie" - oh my....i am going back for seconds. with the many "chain" restaurants invading our space, this locally owned restaurant is a pure slice of food junkie heaven. did i mention, their martini's are wondrous? i have loved this place since it openend. their food is terrific, healthy and tasty. the service, overall accomodating & gracious. ZAFFIRO - keep it going - we are satisfied.... yet again!

We Been there for cocktailz, and for dinner ( have you tried the pasta dinner for 4.00 on Monday ??)now they have brunch. I have to admit I was a little hesitant to go try brunch at the italian flavored place, but it offereing is very nicely done. We received a very welcome greeting... I swear I thought they were going to hand me a Mimosa right at the door. The menu consists of the basics..eggs , maple bacon, pancakes with creamery butter and of course the best mimosas with fresh squeezed organge juice and bloody maryz. The Dad delish and served with a hash brown cake. Also offered : granola and berries and all your breakfast favorites..good solid American breakfast mostly under the $10 range. Make sure you sit on the patio to enjoy the SB air and sun .. What a treat for a nice lazy Sunday day in paradise ..

This restaurant is so good. I was expecting it to be like Pascucci or to taste like ordinary large restaurant Italian food but the food is so good. I've only been there twice and both times I got the Caprese salad which is amazing. I am telling you amazing flavors and the service both times were very attentive.

Good food and its warm and cozy inside too!We love the happy hour and food from 2 to 6. Mondays are our favorite for $3.95 pasta w/salad and pesto bread. We enjoy sitting in the bar with the big, beautiful fireplace. Oh, and a shout out to our favorite bartenders in goleta, BILLY and COLIN. We just can't say enough they make you feel like family we go at least a couple times a week. Keep it up.

I go here often and am never disappointed. The food is always wonderful and the wait-staff is consistently exceptional. The booths are cozy and the decor is beautiful. Plus the price is amazing for level or service and the quality of food. My only complaint is that they cut the Mushroom Risotto out of their menu when they chainged from Pascucci to Zaffiro. That, however is no dampener as they have many other delicious items to choose from. And their bread is to die for.

Very good food, service occasionally lackluster, 7/6/2007
Reviewer: Leslie from Santa Barbara, CA
Food has always been great, nicely presented, large portions & service usually outstanding. However, more than once (perhaps at lunch) we've gotten very indifferent servers with hair dangling in their face that looked like they could care less & had bad grooming habits. These people should not be servers! On the other hand, in the evening the servers have been incredibly accommodating & one even did magic tricks for us - kids & adults loved it! On another note, can you please add a grilled veggie platter to the menu? I eat largely vegetarian, & since I also try to minimize wheat, I'd like to order a veggie platter rather than pasta primavera, veggie pizza, or fried eggplant. I'm certain you already have most of the veggies there. Thanks.

Hearty compliments to your chef!, 6/28/2007

Wow, your efforts are really paying off! I went last night with two friends and had the best meal I've ever had at this location. The Pollo Milanese was flawless, as was my side ceasar salad. My friends were also very pleased with their selections. My only complaint was our waiter who had a large stud piercing below his lower lip -- this sort of adornment is not meant for the restaurant environment, unless you live in San Francisco! I would suggest your waiter leave his piercings at home and put a smile on his face instead. Keep up the good work!

Was hoping for better, 6/22/2007
Reviewer: Dannell from Santa Barbara, CA
We had high hopes for this restaurant. The service was pretty good, our food came out fast and hot, and our server was quite attentive. However, the salad was not fresh at all - the carrots were clearly pre-packaged shredded carrots that were all dried out and pasty-looking. The salad was quite flavorless and when our server asked how the salad was and we looked at our barely touched plate and commented "it wasn't that great" he just walked away. We both ordered chicken (parmesan & picatta) and that was good, so was our caramel apple crisp dessert. I think we felt like they could do better - my menu had a huge water stain on it, blurring much of the items, and it really should have been thrown out. The tables have these large tent cards that looked tacky. There was a great music duo which really helped the ambiance.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Dannell,
It sounds like you had a good experience except for the old menu that the poor quality of the carrots. I will sort through the menus immediately and find the water stained menu you used last night. And I'm sorry about the carrots. Our carrots are cut fresh daily. They are never pre-packaged. It is possible that your salad was put under a heat lamp by mistake, while the rest of your food was prepared. Our vegetables and dressings are all fresh, made from scratch and prepared daily. If you send me your email address I will mail you a coupon for another salad. I'm sure you will enjoy the the quality. You can reach me at

We stopped in Zaffiro to discuss catering for our wedding reception. What a great choice! After pounding the pavement in Santa Barbara, what a great pearl in the oyster this restaurant turned out to be. The staff was out going, the management terrific - and the food was some of the best we have had in all of Santa Barbara! We tried the gorgonzola tart as an appetizer - delicious with a capital D. The happy hour wine special was an added bonus. We are so pleased with the food and our decision to have them cater our reception.

I am so glad you found us. We are excited to cater your wedding. Thank you for the kind feedback.

I went to Zaffiro's a few weeks ago, with a group of about 8. We were told that the wait would be 45 minutes when we put our names down. We decided to wait, even though it was longer, because a few of the people in our group really wanted to try it. An hour later, we hadn't been called, so I asked how much longer, and the girl said "45 minutes" I told her no, the wait was 45 minutes an hour ago. I asked again 15 minutes later, and again, I was told 45 minutes. Obviously, we were sick of hearing this. We resorted to getting the cutest girls in the group to flirt with a male host, which got us seated in about 5 minutes. I understand that we were a large group, but saying "45 minutes" without actually figuring out the wait is ridiculous. Its also unfair that flirting with the employees actually works, although it worked out well in our case. Lastly, the food was ok. I'd compare it to any other "italian" restaurant, a bit lacking in flavor, but trying to make up for it with portion. But then again I wasn't in such a good mood while I was eating after waiting so long.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Vanessa,
I am sorry for the misunderstanding. No amount of flirting can expedite the wait if we don't have available tables or servers, however, we should have quoted you the correct wait. I will speak to my host staff this week. Thank you for the feedback.

I went to lunch here and I was very satisfied with the panino I had. Goat cheese and pesto with marinated veggies. Yum. I like that they leave the caraf of tea on the table so you can refill it when you want. It was early so not too busy and the server was very friendly and prompt.

Good Monday Special, 5/15/2007
Reviewer: NicoleH from Goleta
I last visited Zaffiro about a month ago and had their special spaghetti plate. It is the best deal in town, hands down! The only downside is the service, because I was there with only one other person, we seemed to be the last priority. The larger group of good looking girls got the best service while we had to wait 10 minutes for my friend to get a new glass of water because the first one had a fly in it. While the service wasn't fantastic, it wasn't so bad I wouldn't go back, I'm definitely in love with their special!

Zaffiro writes: Dear Nicole,
Thank you for coming in. Sometimes large parties demand more attention from our staff. If you have been in since, I'm sure you noticed that slow service is not characteristic of our operation. I assure you, we play no favoritism based on the sex or attractiveness of our customers. It is important for you to know that you are never our last priority. It is our goal to give you as much attention as you need.
Thanks for your business and I'm glad you have enjoyed our Monday Night Special!

Reviewer: Lisl Auf der Heide from CA
A few months ago we had probably the worst meals we ever had and a couple of weeks ago, in response to a postcard with the offer of one free dinner and the announcement of a new chef, we decided to give Zaffiro another chance. We were very pleased with the change. The food was very good and the service too. The only complaint we have is that the music was too loud and made it impossible to have a conversation.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Lisl,
I am glad you were pleased with our changes. We always reserve several sections in the restaurant for guests who want to be away from the music. Our hosts and hostesses are supposed to offer you a choice before they seat you and it sounds like they did not. Our live music is very popular and I would hope we could find a style and volume that suits you, but if not, please request to be seated in a quieter section. We will make any necessary accommodation so that you can enjoy your meal and your conversation.

Thank you for your business.

Reviewer: JB from Goleta, CA
I stand by my reviews and in no way shape or form have it out for Zaffiro or any other restaurant. Like I mentioned I have really wanted to like this place, but every time I have been, it has been a let down. It's a great space, nearby, and reasonably priced; in posting reviews I hope to call attention to things that can make a restaurant better and at least Zaffiro has someone reading reviews. On the most recent visit, like I said in the review our server was great, but was overextended and limited by the other links in the chain (in this case the bar). And yes, as we dined on our meal and wondered where the drinks were (along with the tables nearby), our server was stuck at the bar. As far as the food, we all have different tastes, but every meal here has been ho-hum and just average for myself and the others I dine with. I'm glad you enjoy Zaffiro and you will continue to patronize it, however I will not. Some people must be forgetting that this site is for reviewing restaurants, which can include good and bad.

Zaffiro writes: JB,
I do appreciate the feedback and we are always working to make things better. I honestly do not know why you have had such poor experiences here. We will continue to solicit feedback and make any changes necessary in order to provide every customer with an outstanding dining experience.

Reviewer: Max Gonzales from Santa Barbara, Californ I A
Last time JB reviewed this place, another loyal Zaffiro customer wrote to say "what's up?" Now, I feel it's my turn. JB, I eat at Zaffiro at least 4 or 5 times a month. Mostly at their awesome happy hour. But I have been known to take a few dates to their beautiful establishment. Your review is bogus. You are suggesting that one of their servers stood at the bar waiting for drinks for your entire meal. Zaffiro and more importantly the staff is great. Did you not read the manager's response to you last time??? Notify somebody that there is a problem so they can fix it. Your review makes me think you want things to go bad so you have something to complain about. Get a life. As for me, my life will be spent at Zaffiro. Glad you won't be there, more Happy Hour deals for me.

Zaffiro writes: Thank you Max.
We appreciate your business and your loyal feedback. I realize that we can not make everyone happy. I just want our guests to know that we will do everything in our power to do so. Problems do occur and we will continue to remedy these situations with personal attention and the consistent reinforcement of our core principles with our staff.

I'll see you at happy hour.

Tried again, OK, but lacking. Still working out the Kinks?, 5/11/2007
Reviewer: JB from Goleta, Ca
After a few disappointing experiences, decided to give Zaffiro another shot. I was hoping with the manager active in reading reviews and committed to making this a great restaurant, that most of the issues would have been worked out. We dined on Saturday, April 21. After an early morning working around the house we decided to have an early dinner at Zaffiro. We showed up around 5pm and were seated almost immediately and our server, Alison I think was her name greeted us soon there after. The place was mostly empty when we arrived, but filled up quite quickly as expected on a Saturday night. We started off with a round of Cadillac Margaritas, not Italian I know, but sounded good at the time and in fact they were very good. This first round arrived relatively quickly along With the gorgonzola tart, which was quite tasty. In my early review, I mentioned the scampai appetizer was a let down, well it looks like that one is not on the menu anymore? (or maybe I just didn’t see it), but the most common question from the tables around us, was if the menu had been changed again. Anyways the tart was a much tastier choice. We placed our orders for entrees and after the tasty margaritas, decided to order a pitcher of them. This is where the service issues started, as it seems the bar was having trouble keeping up. Our server, who was great was no where to be found, but it turns out she was just stuck up at the bar waiting for peoples drink orders. I could notice tables around us getting a little edgy waiting to order or receive drinks and I was glad we got in their early enough before it got worse. It’s too bad as the server probably got some flack for it (she was definitely doing the best she could with what she had to work with), but it really seemed the problem was with the bar not being able to catch up (surprising as the bar had people in it, but was not overly packed or anything). We received our entrees in a reasonable time, but still no pitcher or server to be found. I had the pasta martini, which I didn’t really care much for, but they other entrees were satisfying, very average, but satisfying. Seeing that our server still stuck up at the bar we kind of gave up on the margaritas, but the pitcher did finally arrive after we finished the meal. Unfortunately at this point we weren’t too interested in drinking more. Overall, very average. Thankfully we dined early, as with the crowds coming in as we left I could imagine that it got even worse. I’ve wanted to like this place, but with the mediocre feed and spotty service I think I’m done. The restaurant is a great value, but the food is just a notch up from “chain” Italian establishments and just really doesn’t “do it” for me or the others I have dined here with.

Zaffiro writes: Dear JB,
I am glad your meal started off well and that the food left you feeling satisfied. As far as your margarita pitcher . . . Every drink ordered by a customer is supposed to be on the table within 2 minutes. I am sorry it took so long for your pitcher to arrive. We do keep exhaustive records with our point of sale system and I would love more detailed information about your experience so that I may troubleshoot it further. Please email me at Thanks for giving us another try.

Allow lots of time for mediocre food, 4/30/2007
Reviewer: Susanne from Santa Barbara, Ca
We were a party of 7 (2 adults, 5 school-aged kids). We arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday evening, thinking this would be ample time to make an 8:00 show. We were very pressed for time, as the waiter kept apologizing on behalf of the very backed-up kitchen. Two of the kids ordered buttered noodles. The portion was TINY....maybe 50 noodles. I asked if we could have more buttered noodles, as it wasn't nearly enough to fill them up, and the waiter said it would be at least 20 minutes, and he would have to charge me for another serving (how much could buttered noodles really cost!?) We like the atmosphere, price range, and location, however will probably not go back anytime soon.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Susanne,
Unfortunately, last Saturday was a difficult night for the restaurant, as we had 2 of our cooks not able to make it to work due to family emergencies. We closed down a large section of the restaurant so our customers would not have to suffer. Saturdays are extremely busy and so the wait at the door was long. I am sorry it took awhile.
The children's portions are small because they are meant to feed children under 12. I have received no prior complaints, so my guess is that in their rush to expedite your order, the portions were not correct. I would love to know who your waiter was, as it is not our policy to charge customers for our mistakes.
If you email me and are willing to give us another shot, I'll buy all 5 kids all the spaghetti they can eat. You can reach me at

Once again, I am sorry for our mistake.

My husband and I just wanted to say thank you to our waiter and everyone at Zaffiro for accomodating our large party (that kept growing as we made the table request!) with such grace and professionalism. Today we made a request for a party of 15 that eventually grew to 22, and our waiter was very calm as adjustments were constantly being made to our party size, orders, and seating arrangements. Even food substitutions were graciously accomodated (fettucini vs. capellini) and a chicken caeser salad was created, as it is not on the menu. The ravioli and pasta martini are tasty, and satisfied two Italians in our party from Italy and raised on mama's homemade pasta. The mojito was by far the best I've had in the SB area---a perfect balance of mint to lime, not too much sugar, nice and powerful on the rum but not overwhelming. Kudos to the bartender! In fact, Kudos to everyone at Zaffiro! Thanks again so much, and we'll definitely be back, minus about 20 people.

awful pizza, 4/21/2007
Reviewer: Nora from santa barbara, ca
Fine for basic pasta -- I've been twice before and had two separate dishes -- but I caution you NOT TO ORDER the pizza, especially the special pizza, which is basically inedible. They overload it with toppings, too many for a thin crust to handle, and they use canned olives, which is not what one likes to see in an actual restaurant. The result: the cheese is undercooked, the crust too tough to cut, the whole thing a soggy mess.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Nora,
I'm not sure what happened to your pizza but we would have been happy to remake it if it was not up to standard. And it sounds like it wasn't. We DO NOT use canned olives. We use only the highest quality Kalamata Olives available. We even slice them by hand! Our pizzas are thin crust as we want them to be authentic. If you are looking for a thick, Pizza Hut style pizza, you won't find it here. But as you noted, we do load our pizzas with toppings and you are the first to complain about it. Most of our customers are thankful that we do not short them on "the good stuff!" Also, our pizza dough is made fresh every single day.
I am sorry that you did not enjoy the pizza. As a special, it is 1/2 off during our happy hour and this past week we sold over 100 orders. Sometimes we make mistakes and a pizza that is too cooked or not cooked enough slips out without us noticing. Please bring this to our attention so that we can make sure that you leave happy. If you email me your address I will send you a coupon for your next pizza. Let us know just how you like it and we will do our best to make you the best pizza you've ever had. My email address is

Great Food And Happy Hour, 4/1/2007
Reviewer: Abby from Goleta, CA
I have been to Zaffiro several times now. My husband and I recently moved to Goleta from Santa Barbara, and this is definitely the best restaurant we have found in town. We just tried the Happy Hour on Friday. What a great deal! I can't believe that the entire wine list is half-off. We will definitely be back to take advantage of that (we had the Telegraph this time). I am very glad to live within walking distance. The service was also wonderful. Unfortunately, I can't remember our waiter's name, but I think he was the only one working in the bar when we got there around 5:00. He had a lot of tables and was very attentive and never without a smile on his face. Great experience that I highly recommend!

Zaffiro writes: Dear Abby,
It is so good to hear that you and your husband have found us. The fact that we are within walking distance is even better news. Our bar staff is phenomenal, another added bonus to our happy hour, which I believe is the best in town. I will pass along your great review to Billy and his crew. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask for me and in the meantime, keep sampling one wine after another at 1/2 price. I'm sure it will take you at least a few months to go through them all.
Thanks again,

always great!, 4/1/2007

I have come here often and their happy hour is the best in town- 1/2 off their wine list?! How do they do it? I am going tobe there Tuesday to meet a girlfriend for their Happy Hour and can't wait! (Jeremy if you are reading this- I owe you and Bethany a belated wedding gift- see you in a few!)

Zaffiro writes: Dear Sarah,
Thank you for the kind review. Both Bethany and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Great Food, Good Service, GREAT Atmosphere!!!, 3/30/2007
Reviewer: Megan from Santa Barbara, CA
My boyfriend of 3 years and I were looking on the SB Dining website at the reviews, looking for a good place to go to celebrate our anniversary. We chose our initial place, one we'd been to many times before, but after reading the responses from the restaurant to the reviews, we were a little put off. What made us choose Zaffiro was the attentiveness of the manager in responding to reviews here on this website. We were both highly impressed. Since we've been long-distance the past few months, we wanted a low-key but elegant place to go with good food. Zaffiro definitely makes the grade! Our appetizer (brie with roasted garlic and pears), drinks (sangria, lemon martini, and Mediterranean coffee, mmmm-mmm), entrees, and dessert (Espresso Mud Pie....a must try for coffee-lovers like me!) were all great! The service was good too...she seemed busy, but was attentive but not pushy, was very helpful with suggestions and answers to our questions. I especially like the atmosphere. It's elegant yet comfortable, and while we were seated at a table towards the middle of the room (which I usually dislike very much) it felt more like being in a booth or a table on the perimeter of the room. I love the colors and the decor. All in all, a great place for a romantic anniversary dinner!!! We loved Zaffiro!

Zaffiro writes: Dear Megan,
I am so glad that your anniversary dinner was romantic and enjoyable. It is our goal to provide every guest with an experience like yours. As always, the feedback is greatly appreciated and we would love to see you back soon. We've got an all new dessert menu coming that will blow you away! But don't worry, we won't be changing the mud pie.

Reviewer: lemonjelly from santa barbara, ca
This might be slightly off-topic because my review is not based on the standard menu, but...last night I attended the first of a series of Brewmaster dinners, hosted by Zaffiro and Telegraph Brewery. We had an amazing four course dinner paired with four locally produced beers, each introduced by one of the hosts. The price seemed skimpy ($35), but the portions were not. I was expecting a taster's menu and was floored to be served plate after plate of delicious food combinations, each carefully complementing the glasses of beer. There aren't many times when a food and beverage pairing catches me off guard, but the 'beer' berry cheesecake made and served with the Golden Wheat Ale was amazing. What an eye-opener. I'm glad to have been part of this new dinner series and hope to see more collaborative events in the future.

Zaffiro writes:
Dear Lemonjelly,
It is so good to hear that you thought the BrewMaster dinner was a success. Brian down at Telegraph brews amazing beer and I'm proud to say we are the best place in Goleta to find it. The cheesecake definately stole the show last night! Don't forget we have two more in this series, one of which will be the release party for Telegraph's new Strong Ale. I hope to see you at the next two BrewMaster dinners or one of our many special events we are planning for the future.

Review From J.B. Is Unwarranted!!, 3/13/2007
Reviewer: Steve Green from Goleta, CA
I would like to respond to the previous reviewer about his experience at Zaffiro! In fact I will do everybody a favor and state that Zaffiro is on the up and up with food quality and presentation. I recently had the pleasure of dining here with my wife on a busy saturday night with a limited staff according to other patrons that left because they didnt want to wait for a table. Many were told that it would be a 45 minute wait. What many of these individuals failed to realize is that Zaffiro is a relax and hang out spot. Let me remind everyone that a place called presto pasta is down on fairview if you want a quick psuedo italian meal. Any real Italian will tell you that dining is an exprerience not to be rushed. But to respond to the last reviewer...shame on you. They have a new executive chef from Le Cordon Blue in the kitchen. Will is now working the bar scene and doing great. The happy hour is amazing! My chicken parmigiana was outstanding. The presentation on the bruschetta was phenonemonal! Our server was at our table every 10 minutes to pour me more wine and take care of us. Lastly, our dessert was killer. Bottom line: I WILL BE GOING BACK REAL SOON! I hate to see bad reviews but apparently no one is a true food afficionado anymore?

Zaffiro writes: Dear Steve,
Thank you for your support. I am glad that you have had the chance to enjoy our restaurant. We look forward to seeing you back soon.

Food, edible, but just ok at best, prices reasonable, 3/13/2007
Reviewer: JB from Goleta
Zaffiro suffers from a menu that sounds much better than the actual follow through. Looking through the menu the dishes are reasonably priced for SB and lots of creative sounding options. The shrimp in the shrimp dish (scampi sampler I believe it was called) were of low quality/size and had a strong "fishy" taste indicating the were not fresh in addition to them being overcooked. The steak panini we ordered also was on the bland side and didn't live up to the menu's description. Overall, the preparations sounded interesting, but when they food arrived it was a let down. Not so much that I would send it back or make complaints to the manager, but still it was just passable (reminds me of food you would get at a chain restaurant such as Olive Garden). I expected more from Zaffiro food wise, but upon receiving the bill I'd say for the price it's not a bad choice. Service is hit or miss, a couple times the server was MIA most of the time and seemed overworked, taking forever, but gave the benefit of the doubt. Overall, ok.

Zaffiro writes:
Dear JB,
Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry you were served food that was not outstanding. Although you mentioned that it was not worth telling a manager about, without feedback we are not able to make the changes that will improve our product and service. If this is the venue you are comfortable with, I thank you for alerting us here.

To respond to your comment about our shrimp sampler, we use two standard sizes of shrimp that total 1/2 pound. You noted that you appreciated our "reasonable prices" but increasing the size of the shrimp would cause the price to skyrocket and therefore make this dish inaccessible to many of our guests. Our goal is to give you the best product for the best price. In fact every guest who visits our restaurant receives a comment card that asks to comment on our value. As for freshness, we only use fresh shrimp and it is delivered every other day. The Scampi Sampler is one of our most popular items so I am surprised that you did not enjoy it. If you had brought it to our attention we would have replaced it immediately. If you ask for me next time you are in, I will buy you a Sampler and I promise you will enjoy it.

We use USDA Prime Beef on our steak sandwich. And at lunch it's only $8.50 with a soup or salad. There is nothing on the menu that isn't in the sandwich.

JB, there is nothing that is too little to mention to a manager. In fact it helps us more because we can investigate from where any problems might have stemmed, and more importantly, we can stop them from reoccurring. My managers are there to make sure that every guest has an excellent experience. That includes you. Don't forget . . . your next Sampler is on me.

I've been into this restaurant when it used to be Pascochis but now I must say it is 10x better! Is it new management? My girlfriend and I went in for supper at around 5:30p to find out Zaffiro was still on Happy Hour! Our bottle of wine was a good quality local winery for under $20 and our meal was 1/2 off! I cannot believe how good this Happy Hour is. You must try the Gorgonzola Tartlets; they are spectacular for the price! Also the service was excellent. Our waiter was knowledgeable of his food and wine and had corky tricks he entertained us with. I think his name was Bert. Keep up the good work Zaffiro! We will return soon.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Winston,
I can't help but laugh while reading your review. I appreciate the kind words, but I think you have mistaken "Bert" for Ernie. He is an excellent server and is requested frequently because of his magic tricks.
The management is the same, but we are working hard to make Zaffiro the best restaurant in town. Thanks for noticing the changes.
We look forward to seeing you again soon. Please tell your friends about our amazing Happy Hour.

My friends and I went to get the 3.95 Fettuccini/salad/bread special. The food was good but we all agreed the house bread was tastier than the pesto cheese bread we got. The customer service is also very great. We had the friendliest waiter during our dinner. And I spoke with a manager because I had left a pair of mittens there and he was extremely nice and helpful as well. Actually, so was the waitress that I got the mittens from. This is refreshing considering the horrible customer service I've recently encountered from restaurants in this area.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Jane,

Reviewer: OICU812 from Santa Barbara
I went with a friend last night before a movie. I was so happy to see Billy bartending - he is very attentive. I was even more elated when I learned of the Happy Hour deals. We each had 2 glasses of Sunstone (2 syrah, 2 chard) and the sampler appetizer platter and of course a basket of garlic bread for $24.00. I gave the menu a look and they really seem to be making the subtle changes that just might work. I think we should stop making the comparison to the "other" restaurant on State Street. I was very happy with my garlic bread, as I have not been downtown for awhile and therefore not able to make the bread comparison.

I am glad you enjoyed our happy hour. Thank you for your comments.

Skip the Appetizers, 12/20/2006
Reviewer: Lynette from Santa Barbara, CA
Our firm recently celebrated an employee's birthday with drinks & appetizers. We had ordered 3 different appetizers to go with our drinks, of which we were all surprised on how small the portions were. There were 10 of us and there was not enough food for everyone to try a sample of the appetizers. We found we should have ordered off the menu to allow everyone to get a sample. Lunch & dinner are usually excellent, but the appetizers were disappointing. We know appetizers are just that, but little larger servings will bring the customer back for their casual get togethers.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Lynette,
I am sorry you were disappointed with our appetizer sizes. We do have several smaller appetizers that are quite inexpensive, especially during happy hour where some are only $3. We also have large choices that are a few dollars more. Our appetizers are not meant to feed large groups, but instead as you noted, our "lunch and dinners are usually excellent" choices for hearty appetites.
Next time you are in we will be sure to guide you to larger selections.
Thank you for your feedback.

What's with the Bread, 11/9/2006
Reviewer: Dolores from Santa Barbara, Ca
The garlic bread downtown is very delicious, lot's of garlic and parmesan cheese. Thin strips, fairly crisp. The bread at Goleta restaurant seems to be "fluffier" and not as much garlic, butter or cheese. Inquired of waitperson; "there is no difference". I don't agree. What do you say?

Zaffiro writes: Dear Dolores,
Our bread is made and delivered fresh everyday from Our Daily Bread, a local bakery. The butter, garlic, cheese and special ingredients are all measured so that every loaf comes out consistent. Maybe you had a basket that slipped between the cracks. Come back and try another. I promise it will be absolutely delicious. Loaded with cheese and all the fixins.

Not enough service for that particular time, 10/7/2006
Reviewer: Teresa L. Jones from Goleta, CA 93117
I'm sure its because you don't have reservations but a few of us decided at the last minute to eat at Pascucci (9), unfortunately the waitress was overwhelmed with to many tables at once. The service was slow and two of our guest, received food when we were half way done with our meal. The atmosphere is great! My husband and myself dine at Pascucci at least once a month. However, more often when we have guest or putting on a special occasion, such as a bridal luncheon, birthday luncheon, or out of town guests. We will continue entertaining our guests at Pascucci because its convenient and the location is close to our home. Our guests were anxious to eat and our waitress was concerned with the tables of 2 - 4 people other than our party of 9, she seemed to be overwhelmed.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Teresa,

perfect date restaurant, 9/18/2006
Reviewer: James Green-Armytage from Goleta, CA
This is the only restaurant in the vicinity of UCSB that I would consider going to on a first date. The food is great, the staff are courteous, and the atmosphere is both pleasant and private. Given all of this, the prices are reasonable. I'm a vegetarian, and I've never had any trouble finding vegetarian entrees at this restaurant. I agree that the complaints below don't seem to be reflective of this restaurant in general. This is a solid restaurant that is very unlikely to disappoint. The single slightly negative experience I had was that there happened to be live music on one evening that I went, and because of the volume, it was somewhat hard to focus on our conversation. This page says that they have live music on Wednesdays, but I believe that this was a Friday. Anyway, from now on I'll call ahead to make sure that there's no live music that evening. With that said, I enjoy this restaurant very much, and look forward to returning.

Zaffiro writes: Thank you James. We did win the Daily Nexus, "Best First Date" restaurant award. We hope to see you in the future on second and third dates.

Reviewer: Lana from Carpinteria
I am shocked by all of the bad reviews on this site. This is my favorite restaurant, and my fiance and I travel from Carpinteria to Goleta because the food is so great. During the summer we went there once a week! While the down town restaurant is just as good, the seating is too limited, so the drive to Goleta is worth it in order to be seated quickly. My favorite is the Grilled Salmon Salad, but ask for the dressing (which is excellent) on the side because they tend to add a lot. The Capri is also excellent. Don't let the bad reviews here keep you from trying this great restaurant, I honestly believe that those were isolated incidents. Pascucci-Carpinteria would welcome you with open arms!

Reviewer: Cheryl from Santa Barbara, Ca
We decided to have dinner here pre-show at the Camino Real on 08/18/06. We were told there would be a 20min wait, no problem, we headed to the bar where we sat for 20 min until out buzzer went off with no drinks in site. Oh well, not a great start, but not a huge mishap. We ordered 2 glasses of wine one of which was your new Sunstone (our favorite local winery) and it took tooooooo long to get to us(they had to go "find" it) and the wine glasses BLECH! Come on, splurge a little for goodness sake, get some decent wine glasses. So, we ordered the Spinach/choke dip as our starter then 2 make your own pizzas as main course. They were ALL DELIVERED AT THE SAME TIME as the wait person said "sorry, but the pizzas were done and if I don't give them to you now, they'll be cold, I figured you wouldn't want cold pizza." That was strike 3. The Dip was A-W-F-U-L. There is no other way to describe it. AWFUL. It was smushy, dry, flavorless. The pizzas were so-so. Mine wasn't cooked in the center and my husbands was so soggy, he called it his "soup". This is the 1st time I have ever written a review for a restaurant, it's the 1st time I have felt obliged to pass on this information. The Wait person was very friendly, but the drinks, poor food and their insanely prompt arrival at our table forces me to say no thanks to Pascucci.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Cheryl,
First of all I want to thank you for ordering the new Sunstone Viognier. I apologize the bottles were not stocked in the bar. We just added the wine to the list and you were probably the first to order it. But that is no excuse. As far as your undercooked pizzas are concerned, your next meal is on me. We do make mistakes and I am happy to fix them anytime they arise. I apologize your evening was not enjoyable. Thank you for alerting us to the problem.

I really wanted to like this place..., 8/2/2006
Reviewer: Jean Jorden from Ventura, CA
My husband and I thought we'd try out this restaurant for our anniversary because we were going to see a movie at Camino Real. I really was ready to give this restaurant a chance. Unfortunately we were quite dissapointed. I ordered a Cosmo to drink and it tasted like straight Vodka. When I spoke to the waiter about this, he offered to add an additional splash of cranberry and then suggested I, "squeeze the lime and mix it around a little." The drink was still horrible yet he did not offer to make me something different even after seeing it sitting on the table with only a few sips taken from it. The bread tasted like something at a outdoor bbq. My husband ordered a pizza margherita and I ordered a shrimp pasta dish. My husband said the pizza tasted "worse than take n bake." The sauce had onions and meat in it. Not what a pizza margherita should be. He scraped everything off and just ate the crust. My pasta was okay, but I could have easily made it at home. It had way too much garlic. Our waiter was efficient, but did not seem to know very much about the menu or the difference in the drink selections. I truly went here with an open mind and not with the highest expectations, hoping to be pleasantly surprised and find a good date restaurant in Goleta. Unfortunately the food does not match the nice decor and ambiance of the restaurant and we will not be returning.

Zaffiro writes: Dear Jean,
Your experience was not characteristic of our establishment. Email me at and your next meal is on me, including a new Cosmo made up to standard this time. I am so sorry you did not enjoy your evening. I promise your next visit will be excellent.

not as good as downtown, 7/5/2006
Reviewer: Jennifer from santa barbara, CA
They spent way more time perfecting the decor in this place than perfecting the food. They changed the menu so its different from the downtown Pascucci. I suggested Goleta Pascucci for a recent dinner with some old friends. Boy were we disappointed. Maybe the head chef was off that night because the food sucked. I ordered with Italian cobb salad that was pretty much all lettuce and nothing else. And there was barely any of it. Everyone else's food was blah as well. Needless to say, we won't be going back there.

Mediocre food and poor service, 6/17/2006
Reviewer: Doug from Santa Barbara, CA
Two nights ago my wife and I went to Pascucci to have a nice relaxing dinner. We have been regulars at the downtown Pascucci for years, and wanted to try the new Goleta location. After a bit of a wait, we were seated, and waited for our server…and waited…and waited. Finally, after about 10 minutes our server came and asked us what we wanted to drink. Overall, our server was very short with us and made it seem like we were wasting her time. After our drinks were delivered (another 10 minutes) we were ready to order but our server just dropped off our drinks and walked away. I tried to flag her down but to no avail. We finally were able to get the attention of our server to order and I decided on the Chicken Parmigiana and my wife had the Frescati Deluxe, I believe it was called. When the dishes arrived, my pasta was cold and lumpy and my wife’s pasta was overwhelmingly oily and garlicky. I looked like they had just dumped a pound of butter and oil onto the pasta and sprinkled some parsley on it. I was pretty sick of my evening thus far and asked for our check. I took forever for our waitress to bring our check and run my card. We got up promptly and left. We were very disappointed especially after hearing good things about this restaurant from a friend. They have a promising location but their staff just seems too rushed; and they should cut back on the butter!

Zaffiro writes: Dear Doug,
I am sorry to hear about your experience. We pride ourselves on our service but, as you were witness to, at times we find cracks. Come back, ask for me, and I will more than make it up to you. I apologize and I thank you for your feedback.

Delicious food...decent service, 6/11/2006
Reviewer: Jaime from Goleta, CA
I have been going to Pascucci's ever since its grand opening in September 2005 and to this day remians my absolute favorite restaurant in all of Santa Barbara. They have a large variety of pastas, risottos, salads, sandwiches, and the most amazing unlimited refills of garlic bread. My favorite dish is their Bellagio, however I find that the quality of my pasta is not consistent. I've ordered the Bellagio on multiple occasions and sometimes the pasta sauce comes out too watery/runny and other times it is perfect. I guess it depends on the chefs in the kitchen. Pascucci's also has fairly good service. My only complaint is that their waiters/waitresses need to be more attentive to the customers so we're not waiting around all day. Once I've had to wait over 20 minutes until my order was taken and then my boyfriend was brought the incorrect order. However, the staff made up for their lack of promptness by bring my roomate a free decorated dish of tira misu for her birthday. Keep up the good work Pascucci's!

Zaffiro writes: Dear Jaime,
You are right. Your wait should never be that long. We are always working to perfect our service. I am glad you enjoyed your free Tiramisu adn we look forward to seeing you again soon.

I just had a very disappoint dinner there. First of all, we waited for quite a while before the waitress came in spite of a not so busy night. They also have changed the bread to something worse than before. Two of us order entree dishes while another person orders an appetizer. The two dishes were completely messed up. The "Bellargio" didn't taste as good as before. The chicken was overcooked. The mushroom risotto was a completely disaster. It simply taste bad. The risotto itself was hot, but the vegetable in the risotto is not hot at all. However, the risotto is under cooked. The taste and smell of the wine overwhelmed the risotto completely. In comparision to the two dishes, the appetizer was ok. But the base for comparision is simply F rated stuff anyways...

This is a complete surprise. Our bread is still from San Luis Sourdough, just like it has always been. And I don't know what could have gone wrong that would have resulted in your entire order being so horrible. I am sorry that you had to experience this. If you send me an email, I will buy your next meal and make sure it is outstanding.

honestly, i don't know what all this hype about pascucci is... when i went there with 7 of my girlfriends, none of us finished our food. the taste was just... blah and it didn't taste good. i didn't want to eat it considering i love italian food. overated. service wasn't bad, but it's not that great either.

Pascucci is just the greatest!!!!, 6/1/2006
Reviewer: Marv from Goleta/CA
Pascucci was the best dining experience I have had since moving here to Goelta. I Loved the warm inviting atmosphere beginning with my greeting from the cheerful Kirsten (she's hot). Then I enjoyed a delicious meal, the unique dish known as the orvieto. Its like eating pumpkin pie, sweet savory, melts in your mouth. Its a pumpkin butternut squash ravioli with a butter sage sauce. Then I topped it off with a rasperry mojito with fresh crushed berries and mint!!! Yum in my Tum.

An EXCELLENT choice, 6/1/2006

Ok, first I need to address the below comments about Phillip, he is our FAVORITE! I really don't think people should be allowed to say names on here because now when you go in and have someone that was previously mentioned it creates a situation you wouldn't have had otherwise. And for goodness sakes, this isn't a 5-star establishment, gove them a break! Ok done. Next off, I really love the Ravoili Sampler, and their Modena Ribs- yes!!! So good! Also, the chicken parm- never been bad in my book! Lighten up people!

Zaffiro writes: Dear Annie,
Thank you for your kind review. I was as surprised by the last review as you were. Philip is a great Team Member. I did address Vivian's concerns with him and we added an extra button to our POS screen to make her Roma ordering seamless in the future. We are ALWAYS looking for ways to improve. Thank you again for your review and we hope to see you again soon.
Our Modena Ribs are awesome, aren't they.

Used to be my favorite restaraunt...., 5/28/2006
Reviewer: Vivian from Goleta, CA
I've lived in Goleta for 4 years now, and Pascucci's downtown was always my favorite Italian Restaraunt. I will admit that the service at the downtown location was pretty bad, but the good chicken parm, fettucini alfredo, bread, and the ambiance always made it worth it. I was super excited when the goleta location opened, and at first was very impressed with the difference in service from this location compared to downtown. However, the last few times I've returned I've been extremely unsatisfied with the food and service. The only thing that keeps me coming back is the awesome manager Chris. Our server, just last night, was rude, ignored us,and didn't even come back once after our food was served to see if we needed anything. All he did was take our order, bring me the parmesean cheese after a few attempts I will explain later, and brought us the check. First from the get go he wasn't very friendly. When he came to take our order and we asked if "the Roma" (my favorite dish) could be ordered for dinner (as it is now a lunch only menu item) he did go and ask. He returned to say "yes they can do that" and immediately turned and started to walk away when I shouted out..."well if they can then we're ready to order now". They've been gracious enough to make this exception with the Roma on prior occassions, however, until last night we did not know that a side salad was included in the price of $8.50 when offered for dinner. I ordered a garden salad with ranch and no onions and two roma's. Another employee, my guess is he was a supervisor as he was not wearing a pascucci shirt, proceeded to bring two salads to our table, 1 garden (with the wrong dressing) and 1 cesar. My boyfriend and I were puzzled not only because my salad was wrong, but because they were bringing out a cesar salad as well. When the supervisor came up with the salads we told him my garden salad was supposed to have ranch, and we didn't order a cesar salad. We waited....and the supervisor brought out the correct garden salad, and another cesar salad. We told him again, we didn't order one. ***come to find out later, the Roma actually included a side salad since we were ordering it from the lunch menu. We didn't know this because (A)our waitor didn't inform us (2) the supervisor didn't inform us (3) other times we've ordered the roma for dinner, they didn't include the salad at all!!*** We only came to the realization after looking at our check and seeing that we were not charged "extra" for the garden salad ordered. So finally the salad dilemma was set, except they failed to offer fresh ground pepper on the salad as they always do. Had we known we were actually paying for it...we would have kept it instead of turning it away honestly and letting them know we didnt' order a cesar salad. Had we known it was included (or had we been informed by our waitor about the option) we would have ordered two garden salads. After that we were running low on bread and happened to flag down our waitor after he had been at the table right next to us asking if they needed anything, and had completely ignored us. Before he got away, I asked for more bread. We waited, and waited. Another waitor brought out the Roma's in the mean time, and we still waited. I was also disappointed because the waitor who brought us the meals, and our own waitor didn't come back for 10 minutes to ask if we needed anything or if everything was okay with the meal. Finally after I was fed up of waiting I hailed a hostess and asked her to bring us parmesean cheese, of which after two trips to and from the kitchen, she never brought for us. Then finally I flagged down our waitor again and asked for the parmesean cheese and the bread we had requested 10 minutes before. Finally he brought the two things. And we didn't see him again until he brought us the check and after seeing the look of disappointment in my face tried to make up for his lack of service by saying "Thanks for being patient tonight." Needless to say, it was too late, and had he been paying attention, he would have seen that my patience was wearing thin since the moment he turned his back on us after checking about the Roma. Therefore, my nice relaxing evening was spent with my blood boiling about our experience. Luckily I've eaten here more than once and know that it's not always like this otherwise I don't think I'd ever come back. However, like I said I've had similar experiences to this the last 4 or 5 times I've been there so something is slipping with the service. I do like the new bread their serving, way less greasy. I'm sad the Roma is not offered on the dinner menu, as it is a great choice for vegetarians or anyone who's got stomach problems. And I do love, i mean love, the ambiance of the new goleta location. The chicken parm used to be my favorite dish, but the last few times the chicken has been smothered in way too much cheese, and the fettucini is lumpy and not very tasty. I got chicken added to a spaghetti dinner a few times back (of which I paid $3 to add) only to have it taste like it was doused in BBQ sauce!!! and it was shredded chicken!!! The times before I've added chicken its grilled sliced chicken. Bottom line: Some serious work in the kitchen and with the service needs to happen otherwise their gonna lose two regular customers, and a whole lot of people we recommed there. It's a beautiful restaraunt with a lot of potential, but I think they need to remember that their customers come first. I know they get busy, but it only takes 5 extra seconds to say "How is everything,"or "Can I get you anything," and it makes a hella-of-a difference in how the customer feels. (i use this example since our waitor Phillip ignored us on two opportunities as he was so graciously asked the two girls sitting next to us if they needed anything). I am not a happy camper!! **I am normally not the type of person to complain at all, especially since I too work in an industry where service is everything, and I deal with complaints all day. However, I am tired of giving this restaraunt chance after chance, and being disappointed time and time again. I'm not asking for much, just the standard service, and for the waitors to do their job. I completely understand it gets busy, but thats no reason to ignore your customers. I do want to thank them for being accomodating and letting us order the Roma (from the lunch menu) for dinner. But sadly, there is something more to be desired when it comes to customer service!

Zaffiro writes: Dear Vivian,
Thank you for telling us about your experience. I will definitely speak with Philip and investigate the situation. Customers should never be ignored and we spend many training hours dedicated to offering outstanding customer service.
The Roma is available anytime and I'm sorry your server did not specify this. It is a regular menu item. The 8.50 price is a lunch special price and that includes a side salad. I will make sure to review this information with our staff.
If you would like to contact me, I will make sure your next experience is exceptional.

When you can get for less than 10 bucks a pasta plate that could feed you for days here, why would you ever want to go anywhere else in Camino Real. Last time i went, i don't remember it's name, but i had a pasta with sausage and a whitish creamish like sauce, and it was good. Very good. Ate it the next day as well. A lot of oil, but still really good. In my opinion the best restraunt in the area, especially if you're hungry, because mika you'll end up paying to fill you up 15 bucks plus, and kahuna grill and the other place next door aren't that good. Blenders doesn't count as dinner, so basically, pascucci's if you're a student or not and you're hungry come here. Not world class italian, but for the price, some of the best you'll find in santa barbara. It's certainly great for groups of students before or after the movies, you can get for the same price as a movie ticket a very good meal. Stop by and check it out.

If the service was horrible, give this place another chance!, 5/22/2006
Reviewer: Lola from Palos Verdes, CA
I have to admit with many of the other reviews here that the service was pretty bad, but since opening it has definitely improved, so much that now I really enjoy eating here. And as for the food, well, if you don't like rich food, of course you won't like the pasta with smoked salmon and butter sauce. (But if you, you'll love that dish!) There are so many lighter choices on the menu that are just as great. I say, if you want to take chances with the menu, opt to share those rich choices with a friend. All in all, why not ask your server for recommendations to serve your own tastes, common sense at any new restauraunt, no? The cocktails are are great, the juices are fresh, and the food choices are creative and reliable.

It was so nice to read your review. The lighter menu items, the specialty cocktails, the high service standards, these are areas of the restaurant we have been working hard to improve. Thank you for noticing and thank you for sharing your positive experiences.

Pascucci FIRENZE & Tiramisu - THE BEST, 5/13/2006
Reviewer: Dani Caram Coy from Bakersfield, CA
I was working in downtown SB when you opened in Paseo Nuevo and my friends and I popped in weekly. Your menu was incredible and your tiramisu was the best that I've ever tried! We followed you to the State St. address and hoped for more room in the future. *** Since moving, I see that you've made it to Goleta with plenty of room and a BEAUTIFUL restaurant. One regret I have is that Firenze was taken off the menu recently. This was my favorite entree on the menu and was ordered, without exception, every time I walked in the door. I would also order it and drive 2 1/2 hours home with it in a cooler to have it just one more time. *** Please bring FIRENZE back! I look forward to visiting you on my next trip!

Zaffiro writes: I've got great news for you. The Firenze never left. You can still order your favorite dish. We made updates to our menu but still have the old menus at the front. Just ask your waiter and we'll be happy to whip up a fresh Firenze for you. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

I have to admit, I don't care too much for the Santa Barbara Pascucci, but I really like the Goleta one. It is the best dinner option at the Marketplace, and is a great place for college friends, or students with visiting parents, or simply Goletans who want a romantic dinner without making the trek down to Santa Barbara city. A couple times I've gone, the Luna Gitana band was playing. Call it a combination of the musical style, or the opera singing, but couples waiting for their table at the lounge area would get that sparkle in their eyes and flirt quietly with each other, young and old alike. The food is fresh and locally acquired when possible. The ambience is classy (unless the TV is on), and I feel like there is a lot of comfortable open space. I get smug when I look across at the chain restaurant next door and see only a few people dining there compared to bustling and busy Pascucci.

They changed the menu! I'm so sad! , 4/17/2006
Reviewer: Erin from Santa Barbara, CA
I eat at the Goleta Pascucci a few times a month and I always order the same thing... the salad with smoked chicken with the sundried tomato dressing. I always substitute feta cheese instead of gorgonzola, and it is pretty much my favorite salad in town. I was really disappointed so I asked the server if I could still order it and she said no, that the kitchen doesn't make smoked chicken anymore (even though it was listed in a different pasta) and that the place doesn't have feta cheese anymore! I truly understand changing the menu from time to time to keep things exciting, but I have to say I probably won't eat there again. On the up note, the server was very friendly about it, even though I was being a little difficult. And the atmosphere is great.

Zaffiro writes: Hello Erin,
Thank you for writing. Your server misinformed you. Not only do we still have Smoked Chicken & Feta cheese, we also still have our old menus available at the host stand for anyone who asks. We have eaten in both locations in Santa Barbara & Goleta--excellent food always. I'm emailing you to let you know that you should consider opening a 3rd restaurant in Santa Maria & should come up and scout for a location. All we have is Olive Garden & we deperately need another Italian restaurant. Santa Maria is one of the fastest growing cities in the US--homes are becoming more upscale & city in changing. Pascucci's would be very successful up here in northern Santa Barbara County. Sincerely, Cherie Cribbs

Professional service from start to finish, 4/1/2006
Reviewer: John Dickson from Santa Barbara, CA
I came here for dinner tonight. I was greeted at the door and seated promptly. My waitress was Jen and she was a real pro. And the busboy brought water to my table seconds after I sat down, without even having to ask. Jen gave me the right amount of time to look at the menu before returning to take my order. After my order arrived (Grilled Salmon Salad with asparagus and mango - excellent), she checked back a couple of minutes later so be sure everything was ok, and refilled my water. I drink lots of water and this was nice. She even asked me if I wanted more water after I had paid the bill (I did). 3 smiling ladies said goodnight as I left. This is what service is supposed to be like, and it doesn't happen by accident - only by good hiring & good training. Cheers to Pascucci Goleta!

Always good. Some new changes, 3/15/2006
Reviewer: Renee Stromberg from Santa Barbara, CA
My boyfriend and I eat at the downtown pascucci often and love it. We recently were in Goleta and stopped by this one. I was surprised to see my favorite dish (the pecan crusted chicken mentioned a couple review below) gone! Apparently they're trying to differentiate themselves from the downtown restaurant. Understandable, but I order that everytime! It's the best. So for this goleta location I will have to find a new favorite. Regardless, I love this place, it's big and roomy (hard to find in SB) great decor and always friendly staff. The hostess's have some learning to do, but that's ok, they're not serving my food. All in all, this is a great, consisten place to get a bite to eat, for reasonable prices!

Zaffiro writes: Thank you for your feedback Renee. We have made several changes as per requests by our local, Goleta clientele. We rely on their repeat business and want to do whatever it takes to make them happy. We have added great lunch specials with Salmon, Halibut and Tri Tip options for only $8.50. Plus we have added new specials and made older specials, like our popular Modena Ribs, permanent fixtures on our menu. BUT DON'T worry, we still have old menus available at the host stand! You let us know what you want and we will do everything in our power to make your visit perfect.

Please train your Manager, 3/3/2006
Reviewer: Michael from Santa Barbara
Great looking restaurant. I was looking forward to eating there after a round of golf. I ordered the pecan encrusted chicken. It was literally so bad (so covered with nuts) that I could not taste the chicken. I had my friend try a bite. He is the nicest and most forgiving guy in the world. He said, and I quote "If you had not told me it was chicken, I could not have told you what the meat was." So I called the manager over and nicely shared my opinion of the meal. I told her that it was unacceptable. Her response? "Other people like that dish very much." What!!!!????? What sort of response is that? Getting nowhere with the manager who shall remain nameless, I talked to our server, who was great. I gave her my business card, told her the whole story about my conversation with the manager, and I told her that for the sake of her boss' financial well being, that I was specifically requesting that the owner call me, and gave her my business card. I am still waiting for that call - four months later. This was the new place in Goleta. Very beautiful, and I wish them the best. But if you are the owner and you are reading this - you had better train your people how to respond if you are going to serve the "Pecan Log." And call people like me when they want to give you the gift of feedback. My name is Michael and my number is 886-1386. My friend tells me to get the pasta and stay away from the rest. I will take his coaching and give them one more try. I hope they get their sea legs because Goleta is well served by the restaurant's beauty and reasonable prices. I wish them the best.

Zaffiro writes: Unfortuanately this is the first I have heard of your experience. If I had received your card I would have called you immediately. I will call you today! And if you do ever choose to visit us again, ask for me and I will make sure your visit is outstanding.

Really good!, 2/21/2006
Reviewer: human from Isla Vista
I've been anxious to eat here since it opened. Finally had a chance to go with 2 friends this Tuesday night. It was busy, we had to wait in the very comfortable bar on a cushy sofa, some basketball on the HD Plasma screens made the time pass, was less then 15 minutes. A waitress was right there for drink orders. Not a bad wine list at all. Large menu, I hope they get it online soon as it takes some pondering, some good looking dishes. The decor is nice, the chairs comfortable and tables well arranged. Looks like a bar for single eaters near the kitchen. Really good garlic bread was delivered immediately. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, my friends asked to split the Chicken Piccata. Food came relatively quickly, they had split my friends order on two plates. We had to ask twice for more garlic bread but it came. The Piccata comes with garlic mashed potatos and a couple of steamed carrots and broccoli which were well cooked but unseasoned. There was only one token caper per plate, the sauce was not very lemony but in all they were quite pleased and felt it was ample for two. My Parmigiana came with fettecini alfredo which at most restaurants I usually have to ask for as a substition (since it almost always comes with spaghetti). I was disapointed that there were no vegetables with mine but after the first bite I didn't care. It was fantastic! The Alfredo was chessy, which I adore and the chicken was cooked prefectly, lots of cheese and the sauce was even better then my homemade! I was delighted and enjoyed it very, very much. Our waiter Jake was busy but kept moving, came by a couple of extra times. I was brought a second Sprite by mistake, for free, also nice. Didn't have room for dessert this time, plenty of food and well prepared. Not at all greasy or heavy and delicious. Overall I was very pleased as were my friends and I will be returing soon!

Wonderful evening, 2/18/2006
Reviewer: Ken from Santa Barbara
A group of six of us went to Pascucci's Goleta for Valentine's Day and had a wonderful time. Partly this was due to how impressed we were with their providing free meals to the Postal workers. I thought that was such a classy and gracious thing to do by the management and represented Santa Barbara at its best. Our meals were great and the service was cheerful and good (I think Stephanie was the waitress, while Kevin and Jeremy also checked in to make us feel especially welcome). My wife and I both had Valentine's specials which we loved. It feels like everyone involved takes pride in doing their jobs well.

Zaffiro writes: The Postal Workers from the Goleta facility are our regular guests and we were heartbroken to hear of the tragedy. Many of our staff have developed close relationships, especially our lunch crew, and were very upset after the shooting. We just want them to feel supported and cared for by their neighbors. I hope to see you next Valentines Day. We will make sure to reward Stephanie for her outstanding service.

I went to Pascucci in Goleta because I had received a gift certificate. We have been to the downtown Pasucci many times, and thought opening a new location would be the answer to our prayers. My husband and I were told it would take 20-25 minutes for a table which we were fine with, so we sat in the bar, ordered drinks and appetizers, but were promptly called to a table. There was a lot of confusion centering around the hostess station, and the entire evening felt very rushed, not at all what I was looking for. I ordered a shrimp dish and was terribly overcooked. It came with a side of pasta which was horribly overcooked, all in all, nothing spectacular. My husband liked his sausage and pasta dish... If you are looking for a slower paced, romantic Italian meal, go to Ca' Dario, but it will cost you $$$$

Zaffiro writes: Our bar has become increasingly popular as our business has grown. Due to this volume and customer feedback like yours, we have added additional servers to the bar area. I'm sure we can find some entrees that you will love. And this time they'll be on me.

The food was a little too greasy and heavy for my taste, but it was not terrible either. The atmosphere was great, I loved the dark and comfortable feel. We had to wait a little while for the table, but by the time we were sat, things were great. One of the servers was not able to answer a question about the food for me, but she got her manager Chris to help and I was impressed by his helpfulness. Overall, I had a pleasant experience; but once again, the food is not for the light eater like myself.

Inner atmosphere and decor was amazingly pretty and antique-like. Our waiter came by frequently to check on us, so service was OK. What I really was disappointed about was the food! I ordered Pizza Margarita and damn, it tasted like one of those frozen pizzas! Although it was thin crust, the dough was mushy, tomato sauce tasted like one of those in jars where you can get at a grocery store. Mozarella cheese was scarce and had an odd hint of smell...and the side salad! It was extra $2 and only a tiny plate of lettuce, cucumber, very strong red onions and tomatoes... The pastas seemed over-boiled and sauce tasted bland... The only thing I liked was their sourdough bread... :( Don't wanna go there again.

Zaffiro writes: We have adjusted our pizza recipe to make it fluffier and more tasty! It is on our Happy Hour menu for only $4. Please come in and give it a try.

Most of the food we ordered was pretty good (shrimp scampi and creme brulee in particular) but my friend ordered a bowl of tomato basil soup which we decided was really marinara sauce. The wine selection was good and very resonably priced. The service was incredibly slow, while we were waiting for silverware we saw our waiter wandering around and it took forever to get our check. I would come back but not with high expectations.

We had called in earlier to have our name put on the list because my parents are disabled, and I must say that on our arrival the hostesses where very kind, pleasant, and helpful. That is where it ended, when our drinks arrived they had forgot to give me a glass for my carafe of Lemonade which the waiter claimed he would bring one, we then ordered Dinner. One half hour later, still waiting , I finished my water which then became my Lemonade glass, my friend had ordered Coffee which they had not refilled and the people next to us who arrived after we had, had been served. When the bus boy started to clear our glasses we wondered if we had been forgotten, then someone else, not our waiter served us. One out of four meals where pallet able, one was completely the wrong order ( Blackened chicken salad is not a Cobb salad ), the fettuccini Alf redo was melted all togathero in one(transparent)clumpo. I had a wonderful experience at the Goleta Pascucci during their "Monday night special"!! Being a "poor, starving" college student, paying $3.99 for unlimited bread, special garlic/cheesy bread, salad, AND pasta is the best deal I have yet to come across! Not only was the food delicious, but my roomie and I received our meals within 10 minutes! If you get a chance to sit in a certain section, request "Daralisa's" section...she was so helpful and such a wonderful conversationalist!

Zaffiro writes: UCSB students are some of our BEST customers and are our BEST staff. Whatever we can do to make the financial burden of college more bearable!!! Thank you for your loyal patronage and your kind words. Daralisa is awesome! I will make sure to reward her for her exceptional service.

Not what I ordered, 12/19/2005
Reviewer: Bernard Webber from Lompoc, CA
I asked for the chicken from the list of specials - it was a separate sheet stuck to the front of the menu - and the chicken was the first on tbe list. But the waitress had the specials in a different order on the menu she was looking at! If all the copies of the specials had been the same I would have received what I wanted. But instead of the chicken I received a big plate of ribs covered in sweet sauce. It's late in the evening now and they're disagreeing with me badly. Pascucci, please make an effort - ask whoever writes out the specials to produce ONE list and make sure each menu displays the same one. Thank you.

Zaffiro writes: We have reformatted our entire menu! This will never happen again. We are always more than happy to remake your order if it is incorrect for any reason. Thank you for your feedback.

"Goleta" sounds Italian. So does "Pascucci.", 11/19/2005
Reviewer: Greg & Yukari from Goleta
Goleta really needs good restaurants. The fact that we miss Chevy's really speaks volumes. Pascucci has tried to fill the void, taking over that locale. The environment is good, and you can enjoy decent Chianti listening to live music. Still, we were very disappointed. We found more corporate fast food -- perhaps the very same cooks and service staff as Chevy's? -- shifted to an Italian motif. We had a nice bruschetta, although it shouldn't be icey cold. The lasagne was industrial, and cold in the middle. The halibut was fresh, but *tiny* and overcooked, accompanied by tough penne in the same cruel cafeteria tomato sauce found in the lasagne. The place is doing well, which is good -- I hope it brings more restaurant business to the area. This is fine place to take your parents, if they're from Iowa. Still, as ashamed as I am to say it: Please bring back Chevy's!

My husband and I went there on a Monday night. The server(who took quite a while to arrive), brought us bread that was so stale we couldn't eat it. My husband ordered salmon, which he said was good. I order the scampi special. The scampi was overcooked and tough. The risotto had so much sesame oil in it, it was disgusting. This was a very disappointing dining experience.

Wedding Rehearsal Dinner For A Part Of 30...My wife and I were looking for a place to have a large wedding rehearsal dinner at a great price! with some five star food and service!...while on location in santa barbara seeing to some final details of our big day at the BACARA resort and spa, we stop off at Pascuci's in Goleta. We had no idea that we where going to fall in love all over again, with Pascuccis that is! They were great and the food was wounderful to say the least...we decided than and there that we had to have our party at Pascucci - Goleta and we started making plans...we contacted the mangers, etc...and they were great with helping us pull it together very last min. (Actually The Day Of) and they pulled it off WITH OUT A HITICH. We all got our food in AMAZING time and PIPPING HOT! JEREMY THE CATERING MGR. that helped us pull it together the DAY OF the Dinner was GREAT! I would recommend paying for the extra server or 2 when you do a large part like that it pays off when u have 30 people all needing drinks, trust me! If you have anyadditional questions about my experince at Pascucci in Goleta let me know! I can't wait to go back!

I came here with my husband a few weeks ago, on a Saturday night and was amazed! Live music that was great and our server, Sarah, is truly good at what she does. She made personal recommendations, made us laugh and gave us the best service we have had anywhere, let alone Pascucci's. Everyone has to keep in mind that this is place is still 'new' even though we have eaten at the downtown one as well. Please try this place and give it a chance. It sounds like everyone else that has complained was looking for something for free.

First offf, we were told we had to give them a picture ID in order to get the beeper so they could beep us when they were ready to seat us. Another time, my daughter was there at 9:30 at night and had to wait outside for her two friends to get there because they would not seat her until her until her entire party got there, eventhough they were not busy. My wife got served a custard desert that something had gone wrong with the eggs. She worried about getting sick. They give her the desert for free, but not the entire meal. Unless they change their beeper policy, we will not pick this place to eat.

You can tell they did not cut corners when it came to decorating. But service and food makes a restaurant complete! They will not seat you until your full party is there, we were only waiting on one person, but still didn't get seated until she got there. And our waiter was not good at all, he came to fill drinks only once. For a party of seven we were there for 3 hours. If you are pressed for time this is not the restaurant to go to. The food is not authentic but is no bad for pricing. Average dinner $10-$12. When I’m out that way I’d go back again because there is really nothing else in Goleta. But really love the decorating!! Five stars for that!

Less than Satisfactory Service, 8/22/2005
Reviewer: Cristina from Goleta
My friends and I went to the new Goleta location for a birthday celebration. The wait was short and the food was decent; however, none of the employees were friendly or even smiled. Our waiter was busy, but we had to ask for all of our drink refills and for more bread twice before we would get them. I realize the restaurant is still working out the kinks, but I wasn't very pleased when I discovered that a 17% gratuity was automatically charged for a party of only five people and for mediocre service at best. I recommend going to the downtown restaurant to enjoy Pascucci's.

We were very impressed with the service we received. We were seated without waiting, cheese bread came quick along with the water and within 10 minutes we received our drinks and our dinner order was taken. We were watching the clock because we were going to a movie that started in a 1 ½ at Camino Real. The quality of the food was what was expected for the price we paid and we will definitely return with the kids.

Last Tuesday, I went w/ some friends for lunch. We love the State St. location and assumed the Goleta one would be just as good. Unfortunately, the hostess desk was staffed with 2 young ladies who did not care in the least that we were customers. They were "chatting" instead of asking if they could help us. We asked to be seated before the rest of our party arrived (it was slow w/ lots of empty tables), but we were informed of "THE RULES" (no) in a very monotone way. They projected a very strong impression that they didn't care about customers at all. Thank goodness for the waitress - she really made up for them - she was very friendly and attentive. She gave her menu recommendations which were very helpful. Food was fair.... Think we'll stick to the State St location from now on.

I don't get the raves and expansion of this restaurant. I have eaten there about six times because of group events. There is nothing on the menu that even sounds good. A mishmash of odd ingredients that is for the most part not even close to Italian. The place reeks of old oil and garlic. The consistancy of some of the pasta dishes is gluey and just plain icky. I will be missing future events that require me to eat there. Guess the owner has a lot of loyal friends.

I will never return to this restaurant again. The two entrées I ordered for myself and companion were served incorrectly; what should have been salmon was a white fish, and my "creme sauce" was not a creme sauce but a tomato based sauce. To be fair, I've worked in hospitality and know that mistakes are made. Our server apologized and offered to correct both mistakes. I expected a comped desert or something, but nothing was offered. Until this point, I had no problem, but I got nothing but attitude from the manager when I attempted to communicate Pascucci's shortcomings. He maintained that I was in the wrong and refused to concede that I may have an idea of what I was talking about. I DO NOT require a comped desert or any freebies upon my next visit. I DO expect that management would respect my feelings and encourage me to return...I will not return. Good luck.

Reviewer: Chris H. from Goleta, Ca
Three days after they'd opened, at lunchtime, incredible how busy they were. If there were a few kinks left to work out, perhaps it's because they had no time to get used to it before it got OVERWHELMINGLY CROWDED. Perhaps this is an indication that Goleta needs a few more restaraunts. Anyway, the atmosphere was as good, but different, from downtown SB. The food was good, we had a problem in that the bread was UNDERCOOKED. But as soon as we found a waitperson, they brought us fresh. And as there were plenty of staff and they all helped anyone with no regard to whose 'station' it was, we were well served. It was quite amusing to see the cross section of diners, surfer dudes and accountants, all enjoying the old-world ambience of the place. The decor is OUTSTANDING. Bravo!!! We will keep this restaraunt so busy, because you can get high quality gourmet meals of an amazing variety for an average of $9 in huge portions, that soon they will have the service and perks up to snuff. Have no fear. This is a world class restaraunt. Now if only we could get a California Pizza Kitchen next door instead of that silly Chili's, I'd be in heaven (be sure to try the Winchester Grill - it's good too)

Please don't be discouraged in trying Pascucci's new location based on a review not commenting on the service, food, total experience, etc. Pascucci makes an great Italian Cobb salad, Lasagna is amazing, Firenze and Toscano are great entree pasta and Risotto choices! Try out the bar and lounge area. Maybe eat desert at the bar with a great latte or something! PLEASE try it out for yourself and see what a great addition this place is to Goleta!

Disappointed w/ dessert order, 7/31/2005

We ordered dessert to go--can you believe it took a total of 30 minutes to place an order for dessert to go?! We couldn't believe it. I didn't realize that much time had pass because I was on the phone. By the time I caught up w/ my fiance, where I was ready to tell him let's cancel the order, he received the order. We just couldn't believe how long it took to get a couple of desserts to go. And the quality's lacking. We understand they just opened, but perhaps they need a little more training before officially opening to the public. The service and customer attentiveness is seriously lacking. PLEASE IMPROVE!!

It is nice to have Pascucci in Goleta now. Very nice redesign inside- great ambiance. Food was pretty good. I had the Pasta Cortina, which is what I always get, and my boyfriend had the lasagna. Both had good flavor and portion. Service needed a little bit of refinement, but I am sure they will get it together soon.

Mediocre Food & Service at Lunchtime, 7/28/2005
Reviewer: Dario from Goleta
Tried the new Goleta location of this highly rated restaurant. I haven't tried the downtown location. Admittedly, my expectations were pretty high. We waited for about 10 minutes for a table on a Thursday at about 12:45 pm. We didn't see a server for about 5 or 10 minutes after being seated inside. The interior is okay--maroon, faux-old-world Italian--but the chairs weren't very comfortable. The bread was not hot or fresh. It would be good--sliced, chewy sourdough with butter, garlic and parmesan--but not when it's nearly cold. I ordered the ravioli sampler, my friend the grilled veggies with pasta, and we shared a mixed green salad with vinagrette. The salad was ok, small but for $2, not a bad value. But the dressing was bland; nothing more than balsamic vinegar. The entrees arrived too soon after the salad and both were lukewarm. My ravioli were ok. The salmon ones were pretty good, but the other 3 kinds all tasted basically the same and all were slightly over-cooked. My friend said her grilled veggies were bland. She didn't even take her leftovers home. The server(s) did keep our water glasses and sodas filled, but didn't do the most important part: Food should never be served lukewarm. We noticed that all the service personel seemed very hurried, though there seemed to be a lot of them around. It seems to be a problem with how the service is organized. (Why not have food runners and buspersons? The waitress seemed to be trying to do everything. And why don't they accept reservations?) The food was very mediocre. I might give it another try. Perhaps there are better things on the menu. But they really need to work on their service.

I came all the way from Bakersfield to have dinner with friends and thought it was definately worth the drive. The decor was fantastic, definately set a great mood. I love the seating for two in front of the fireplace area it was very cute. The attention to detail was great! The food was excellent. I had the ravioli sampler and thought it was excellent. THe portions were excellent for the price. I really like the fact that everything is so fresh, organic and from local vendors. That meant a lot to me. We had a large party of 9 and were accomadated well. Our waiter was very polite and the service was excellent. THe only complaint I would have is that the hostess and manager were not as accomadating as I would have liked. As a new client of Pascucci's I had a few questions about the restaurant and was told to call in later they were busy or go to the website, yet they did not have any business cards to give me and did not offer to write down their info. I went to the website however, it did not answer any of my questions. Overall it was a great experience and I would go again.

The service at this place sucks to put it mildly. We made the attempt to call in ahead of time for reservations. We were told they didn't take reservations. We got there and were told we'd be seated in about a half hour. Our party of 10 waited for over an hour to be seated. We were initially told our party would be split and seated near each other in a couple of booths, which I agreed to only to cut our waiting time. After about a half hour of waiting we were told that the manager said we wouldn't be able to be split that we'd have to stay at one table which meant an even longer wait. After about an hour, a party of 12 came in and were immediatley seated in the table we were to get next. I asked to speak to the manager. She stated that this party called in ahead of time. I expressed to her our attempts to call in. She said that the place did not take reservations but did take call-ins which made no sense to me at all. By that time we'd waited well over an hour and would not have been able to go anywhere else to eat and not wait again so we decided to stay hoping maybe management might be able to comp at the very least the appetizers we ordered. No luck. Instead, they just brought out some appetizers we didn't even like or wanted and got a lame apology for what happened. The manager blamed it all on her people and the fact that the place had only been opened for a short period of time. The food was just okay. The portions were very small for what we paid for. I've had much better at Olive Garden and for less $. I do have to say that our server was gracious and very helpful which I appreciated. Still, I will never come to this place again. I am a firm believer in good customer service and am willing to pay good $ for it. This place is seriously lacking.

I wont waste anybodys time with this. Was there on July 16th around 9:30PM in the evening with a group of 12. My honest opinion, if your looking to hang out with a big group and have drinks then its a cool place. The decor and furnishings inside the restaurant are nice. On the flip side...when I go out somewhere I am also looking for food quality. I didnt think that what i ordered was lousy...but I didnt think it was the greatest thing in the world either! I have had better italian in S.B,. The whole night cost me around 35 dollars after two glasses of wine, a salad, and a tre formaggio dish with chicken. Would I go back?? Probably not..unless someone invited me and I dont have to pay for it. Its pricey and people use it in this town as a name dropper. But it is OKAY and some people like that rating.

Great Atmosphere, Food Okay - Good Goleta Option, 7/17/2005
Reviewer: Deborah from Goleta
The atmosphere was great--easily a million-dollar renovation. Our waitress was wonderful -- attententive without being overbearing. We saw a huge mix of patrons -- teenagers, families, young couples, middle-aged couples, older people. Goleta has long needed a nice, comfortable restaurant with a reasonable $$-point, and this fills the bill. However, the food was just 'Okay.' We will probably go back occassionally, but only because we have a group, etc. We ordered a pizza (it had too much cheese), but wasn't anything spectacular; and the Swordfish with Mango Chutney. Again, it was okay, but not memorable. We got out the door with 2 dinners, a salad and 2 glasses of wine for about $40.00. Too bad California Pizza Kitchen, or Gisella's didn't move in. At least they are reasonably consistent with quality, etc.

Goleta needed this one!, 7/14/2005

The ambiance is amazing. It's a very cool, very reasonable, very friendly place. The few dishes my friends and I have tried were excellent. They should have been more organized before opening, but they do a decent job accomodating.
