Nice little confectionery shop.
Reviewer: Sandie from San Diego, CA
Nice little confectionery shop. Carmen was helpful and patient with us in our selecting gift chocolates. She packaged our choices in three different colorful boxes with ribbon. Very nice. Although expensive, the chocolates are delicious and service excellent.

Finally an ethical chocolate shop, someone who cares. I came in to look for fair trade chocolate and found it; and more. I got an education on the fact that fair trade does not necessary mean a sticker on the box. The owner of this chocolate shop investigate the source of the chocolate they make truffles with and the chocolate bars they offer for sale. They showed me picture of the process from bean to bar and really push the ethical aspect of chocolate trade. I may go to their house to watch a movie on slavery. Dedication does not get better then that. The chocolates was excellent to top it all.

100% chocolate
Reviewer: Max Duverney from Los Angeles California
We started with a 60% chocolate bar, then 75% and finally 100% on the advice of the staff. I could not believe how good the 100% was, not to bitter at all. We were lucky to be able to view some beautiful pictures of cocoa plantations from around the world. A lot of knowledge comes with this very small shop, nice selection of truffles but we are into the pure chocolate bars and this is heaven for it. We will come back on our monthly escape from L.A Max D.

Good food, pricey chocolates

If you want to pay $2 for a Sees Candy size chocolate then this is the place for you. Very wide selection to choose from and good, I like the more fruit inspired ones the best. Locally made chocolate and European type with others to choose from. If into chocolate and want to try other places try Trader Joes which has great selections or a Harry and Davids(closest is Camarillo outlets or Pismo Outlets though) or The Chocolate Gallery on Calle Real.

The chocolates at chocolate maya are great, she carries chocolates from all over the world. Yes they are a bit expensive but worth it. The service is great, they are really helpful at picking chocolates you will like. The reason you don't get samples is places that carry high end products don't give samples.

Each chocolate is scrumptious and delicious but pricey at 2 bucks a piece. It was somewhat worth it but the cashier lady was rude. She told us that she was closing soon, gave us attitude, and rushed us out of there. I didn't get any samples nor a nice box to place the pricey chocolates. Great chocolate but doesn't make up for the terrible service.

Delicious chocolates from around the world (and local ones too) with consistently good service. There's always a good chance the owner will be working. If you like dark chocolate, try the chocolate dipped cacao nibs. Very nice French/european inspired decor.

Live by Chocolate!

Chocolate Maya has a nice variety of chocolates from Europe and the U.S. and from local chocolatiers like Jessica Foster. The decor is nice and colorful and the tiny space has a warm feel to it. Maya is very nice and offers samples as you select truffles. She wraps every purchase in a nice package that would be nice as a hostess gift even if you're going to eat then just outside the door. My wife and I have bought our chocolate gifts for others and us there a few times since they've opened.
