Cheap and quick, 6/8/2010

I show up here at least once a week. The beef bowl is not to be missed. Lots of tasty beef is a big bowl of rice. I load it with lots of jalapino peppers and I am in heartburn heaven. They are friendly and quick with the food. The only place to sit is on old picnic tables, but the weather is usually fantastic. Sodas are only 99 cents with any meal.

I ordered portions for an larger event I was catering and they were extremely accommodating and efficient. The food was organized into containers for easy serving and prices were very reasonable, despite the fact that they have no previous experience catering. The food was received very well at the event and I plan on coming back in the future. The only draw back was that I could not get an itemized receipt (necessary for reinbursements if you are not paying the tab), but I highly recommend it others.

I have to say, I'm korean and it's pretty tough to find a korean restaurant here in santa barbara. When i heard about this new restaurant openning, i was excited to go and check it out. the food was not too bad actually, although i do prefer little asia (they have more options). otherwise, the food tasted good, the one thing they did have that i really liked that little asia doesn't carry is the kalbi (korean beef short ribs). I always remember my mother and grandmother cooking this when i was younger, and i have to admit, i missed it alot. now i can eat it anytime. yeay to that.

I went here late last night for dinner and was really surprised at the quality of the food. The beef/veggie bowl is great!! There is a lot of beef and veggies, the price is right and service was wonderful. I will be back here for sure!

Have been a regular ever since the first time., 4/5/2009

For a fast food paced Korean restaurant, it's really good. It's run by a Korean family so you know that it isn't cheap imitation. Also, if you ask nicely, they'll give you a side of kimchi. This place can be considered a Korean version of Yoshinoya. Although I see that people don't appreciate the price, they're actually pretty reasonable. Stuff like kalbi is expensive regardless of where you go. However, I do have to agree that the plate isn't worth the extra change. I'd say to just stick with the bowl. :)

The food took a little while to get. Was Ok but I prefer more Teriyaki or Thai type dishes over Korean I guess. Basically a large portion of meat and rice with no veggies.

decent korean bbq, 3/15/2009

The food is decent but it does feel a little skimpy for the price. The additional macaroni side is not very good and the salad is pretty mediocre. The hot dogs are very good though.

good things on rice, 3/12/2009

GOOD: Well-priced bowls of Korean style bbq meats over rice, or for a dollar or two more, served on a plate with some side dishes of green and pasta salad. And the pasta salad is yummy! Order and pick-up at the counter, food is prepared quickly for a hungry person on the go. With this expectaction, the food is decent, and there is certainly worse available in Isla Vista. REALITY: If you're expecting something like the Korean BBQ that includes freshly grilling your meat and vegetables, unique flavors of kimchee and little plates of banchan to nibble, don't get your hopes up. This is Isla Vista, after all. It's silly to think the food would be anything like that.
