We have been frequenting A.J.Spurs in Buellton for a few years now. We have seen familiar faces in the staff come an go. The awesome food keeps us coming back from San Diego Calif. We had a few friends we wanted to show off ur place to, so we walked in asking for a table of six and was greated at the door by a lady who was not very friendly. What happened to the other asian guy, he was so personable? We were sat an greated with a smiley waitress and ordered drinks while she made us laugh! Made up for the hostess up front right away, we ordered and had a fabulous dining experience and left full as usual. Hopefully the girl at the front was just having a bad day...

Quantity Great, Flavor: Poor

My family goes to Buellton 1-2x/year to eat at AJ Spurs. I like a big meal, and AJ Spurs delivers. Large portions, the soup, beans and salsa on the table. I recently ate at AJ Spurs. The steak was cooked perfectly. However, most of the food lacks flavor and seasoning, including the skillet of potatoes and rice side dish. Steaks should be seasoned to bring out the flavor. Overall, AJ Spurs is the place to go to enjoy a large meal but the quality of the food is average.

The Twin Peaks fillet !!
Reviewer: Noni from San Jose, CA
The place is very interesting, with lots of staffed animals and tools on display. diners frequently take pictures. A Chili soup is served for all - was rich and not too spicy. My wife and I split a Twin Peaks Fillet course - it includes two 6 oz fillet, each wrapped with bacon and topped with a different seafood sauce. IT IS DELICIOUS! the best fillet ever! our daughters had two kids meals - ribs and a burger. All portions are huge - even the kids meal. We ended up with two boxes to go. btw, they have a 35 oz steak if you are *very* hungry. The food was great. We will come again.

you have to expiernce it at least once

We made trip up from LA because a friend said it was a great steak house. We took in Solvang first wine tasted then had two sirloins. Not to bad. Our initial waitress forgot about us yet another waitress noticed our impatience and saved the day. The food came out fast and cooked to order. A good place for kids if u have them a great place for a date and casual conversation.

AJ SPURS in Europe ?
Reviewer: LIEBER Régis from France
Hi, I was at the AJ ASPURS so many times and I stays my favorite one. But The thing is that I am coming from France and I thing that AJ Spurs Restaurant would work in France and in Europe. So do you think that someday an AJ Spurs would open in Alsace (this is were I live, in France but close to Germany and Suisse) Thank you Régis

Come hungry

First time visitor at AJ Spurs and I'd return for the good food and entertaining environment. The hearty Vaquero soup with its beans and salsa definitely wasn't bland. You could make a meal out of this starter. Their salad with ranch was another course you could eat as an entire meal if it were larger. I had a New York steak that was cooked perfectly and quite tasty. The meal comes with potato slices and my only complaint is that we got so much food at once, by the time we got around to eating them, they were a bit cold. The rice pilaf was average (but then again I'm not a fan of the stuff). Root beer float at the end was great!

Not that great

Basically about a year ago they would have gotten a 4 or 5 from me but now It has just gone way down. First I was disappointed with the service. It took forever for our waitress to get us our drinks. The soup was blan, I remembered it being great with lots of meat in it and very tasty but not any more. The salads used to be a good size but now those are given to you on a small saucer. The dinner, well, I had the beef ribs, and they were ok, nothing to jump over joy for. Overcooked and smothered in sauce. Any time you go if you want to get a decent meal you are going to pay $50 or more which is fine, but when they start rationing the sides, thats when you know its going down hill!

Great Food, good family vibe

Go here for large groups/familes over Hitching Post. They unfortunately no longer have the treasure chest of toys for the little ones as they legally can't anymore due to lead paint legalites apparently. The food is good with the exception of the beef ribs which are not as tender as the pork ones and were a bit fatty(pretty standard at most places though). Lots of great stuff to look at while you are eating and a nice environment. On the weekends go before the 6:00 rush or you won't get a seat but they do take reservations, bar there also.

Best Steak Ever
