Taco Tuesday in IV, 12/16/2010
Reviewer: John from Goodland
This simply might be the best deal in all of IV; on Tuesday night at least. Chino's tacos are fantastic all week long, but they drop to $1.00 per taco on Tuesdays. Upon delivery, my tacos looked beautiful, large, and steaming hot. The homemade corn tortillas were everything they should be, dense and strong enough to survive a large amount of fillings without cracking or getting too soggy. Basically, damn near perfect in that they didn't distract me from the taco fillings. I ordered five each of the Chicken and Steak Tacos ($10.00 for those keeping score) along with a couple of $2.00 Coronas. The steak was marinated and cooked to perfection; tender and exploding with flavor. The Chicken was flawless with a hint of cilantro and lime. I topped these with their hotsauce which was hotter than and only slightly less destructive than the Zaca fire. This is my new favorite Tuesday night eatery and they deliver down the street to the Study Hall if you ask. Enjoy.

We sat on the patio and enjoyed the food. Everything was tasty. IV hasn't changed too much over the years. The same cast of characters...just different actors. Good times. Thanks!

It's iv! Iv is trashy so is chinos but ts a great value!, 5/26/2010

Good food cheap prices. Keeps Santa barbarans out of IV

Terrible!, 4/24/2010

I was really excited to go to this place because I thought it would be authentic Mexican food but this place was terrible! I got the 3 item combo with 2 tacos and chicken enchilada and I was not impressed with the quality of the food. The food is bland, the prices are high, and the portions are small. This is EASILY the WORST Mexican food I have ever had.

Good but not as cheap as I thought it would be, 2/1/2010

I was excited when i found out Chino's was coming to IV. I figured Freebirds would finally suffer due to their high cost. But soon I realized that Chino's isn't exactly that cheap. Yeah, there are cheap Tacos and BRC burritos every certain day, but the good stuff like their quesidillas are expensive. You do get a good portion however. So my suggestion is have a quesidilla or enchilada once in a while. too bad they weren't a little cheaper ($8.50) for a chicken quesidilla, otherwise instead of 1-2 a week I would go 4-5 times. But they do give you a lot of food.

Wow, nice vibe, good food and great service!, 1/28/2010

Its a neat vibe here. The owner was here and was really nice, it started in SLO and expanded down here. Its on the prime street bike street so unless you live in IV(i.e. a student) it may be hard to get to(need to park and walk). The food is a little pricey for what you get but the vibe and service make it worth it. If getting it for there the waitresses take really good care of you with chips and good salsa. The soft drinks are out as all you can drink. Definitely a fine addition to IV and it may put one of the lower quality mex places there like Rosarito or The Cantina out of business or maybe they all have their niche. 2 for 1 discounts available and Taco Tuesday.

Finally we have an alternative to Freebirds!!! Although the food isn't "authentic" mexican food it is incredible. The portions are huge; the Chipotle burrito had just the right amount of spice and chipotle-sweetness; and and the Fuego tacos are amazing. Whoever writes that the food is bad is simply wrong! Service is good, but the atmosphere is fun, relaxing and totally chill. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic Service...will return!, 1/23/2010

So I didn't have high expectations given the decor seemed gimicky. But the food was decent and the service was fantastic. The workers were making sure we had enough chips, taking our plates, cleaning our table before we sat down. One of the only places in IV you can get a more "sit down" feel. I had a chicken burrito and a crunch taco that I split. It was plenty of food. I wouldn't say this place is authentic but it was good. Also, for some of deals they had like $1 tacos on Tuesdays you can't beat it. It's worth trying. Just don't go in expecting some authentic Mexican food and you'll enjoy it.

I was super excited to go to this place. It sounded authentic (or at least more so than Freebirds)... The soft tacos I had were bland, poorly put together, and the steak tasted horrible. Free chips and salsa though. That was a nice touch, although also bland. Service was outstanding... The girls working there really tried hard to bring out the food fast and clean our table.
