Not sure why only the very limited, one-note menu
Reviewer: Jinelle from Santa Barbara, CA
Looking for a nice piece of fish, simply prepared - not gonna happen here. For some reason they serve disguised fish in overly-garnished, overly-flavored (aka hot sauce) hard to eat tacos, so the insides could be anything. With a dull tortilla wrap that at least does hold up but offers nothing to temper the already overly bold taste experience. Tasty for what it was, but not for a namesake Kanaloa that means "seafood" in this town. Plus why not just a simple superb fish taco with smaller pieces of flash fried fish, shredded cabbage and mayo like one longs for in Baja? Please learn the difference between mouthwatering and cast-iron gullet required. Place looks lovely, the dishes look lovely, the service friendly, prices fair and orders come out with not much wait. But if you want simply "fish", this is not the place to go. If you want novelty preparation of limited options with monotone hot sauce flavorings, there are other places. Won't be back but will watch out for menu changes to see if they can become the simple sea food shrine I had hoped they would be.

Why Swai?

Went into this new restaurant and perused the menu in hopes of placing an order for lunch. The hair on my back stood up when I glanced upon the crispy "fish" tacos. I asked the order taker behind the counter if the taco consisted of farm raised Swai. He assured me that it was. Other than perhaps simple greed, why not serve perhaps halibut, cod or mahi-mahi. Will never return. On the plus side, very nice remodel with ample seating areas.

Very nice edition to downtown

I had dinner and had a very nice meal. The menu is very simple - soup, fish tacos, and fish sandwiches. There is a nice courtyard to sit outside. The food was very good and the staff was nice and knowledgeable. Hopefully they will expand the menu in the future.
