Extremely Loud and (waitstaff) Incredibly Close, 6/2/2015
Reviewer: Zana from Santa Barbara, CA
When we arrived for a simple appetizer and glass of wine, the restaurant was peaceful but as it filled up it was SO noisy it felt like a physical assault. The waitstaff was at our table almost every 3 minutes (literally). Between noise and the over-attending waitstaff, having any type of meaningful conversation was difficult and nerve wracking. Menu was "odd" and the appetizer was nothing to write home over. This SB local won't be back.

Good food, great service, 6/2/2015

2 couples, no reservations. When we arrived place was only 1/3 full but told no tables avail. As we stood on the sidewalk deciding what to do we were told we could eat on the patio but we had to be done by 8. It was 6:30 so we agreed. We never felt rushed, busboy was on top of removing plates, waitress was helpful with dish descriptions and advice. We had three apps and 4 dinners, all were good. Cocktails were innovative and tasty, wine list had lots of great options. I had the honey glazed chicken dinner (with corn) and I expected it to be sweet, but it wasn't overbearingly so. I thought the balance was just right. Not cheap so this will probably be a special-occasion place for us, and we'll remember to make reservations next time! Oh, and the place DID fill up by 8 so the hostess was honest with us. Much appreciated.

A must try in SB! I recently went with a group of friends and we all shared 4-5 dishes, all of which melted in our mouths! I was trying things I normally would not try, but was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed it. The service was great and the new atmosphere is hip yet not over the top. I have my next reservation for next week. Can't wait!

The remodel of Nuance from the previous space was done quite nicely. I liked the look of the old space but Nuance has added some bright pops of color and stylish fixtures and art that make it really beautiful. The staff was welcoming and helpful, still new so not super knowledgable but I'm sure with time that will improve. The menu has some great ideas, it's small but feels diverse. The execution of the food was just OK, I had the Mary's Chicken for my entree and it sounded so good on paper but the dish ended up being very sweet, the chicken was sweet glazed the sweet corn purée with sweet corn hash was so overpowering...I was looking for anything pickled to balance the flavor profile. They are still new so no judgements, looking forward to going back in 6 months when some of the kinks have been worked out.
