This spot is still a favorite for our family! Over a decade later and I still think the Eggs Bene are some of the best. I compare others to the Breakwater bene's. The patio has a fantastic view for dinner.

freindly locals hang out that allows dogs on outside patio

We have been eating there for years and had everything from the burgers to the fish dinners. Very satisfied and the price and view from the patio of the Marina can't be beat. Old fashioned attentive service All Good.

Avoid, tourist trap, not a locals spot

Great location but, inconsistantly prepared and portioned, low quality, and way overpriced food. Unappreciative owner, who does not care if you come back and disrepectfull employees talking about the customers. We are former long time 5-7 day a week, sometimes twice a day customers. The only good things there are the tarter sauce and a few really good long time employees. Used to be our favorite place to go.

Very friendly workers, and delicious seafood!

It's right next to the harbor, a very cute little restaurant with a wide variety of food. Me and my friend were looking for seafood and they didn't disappoint. We started with breaded calamari and clam chowder. Then clam luguini for the main corse, and to finish they had an awesome icecream list that they put in a waffle cone so you can take it with you. The price was very good for awesome food and such friendly service. Thanks guys.

Great food

Best food we had on our 4 day trip to Santa Barbara. They allowed our Yorkie to join us on the patio & service was great. Food was great for the price busted other places paid 2x as much but food was not good.

January 2014 Get Away
Reviewer: Dana from Seattle
On a personal retreat in January, I stopped here for lunch following a city tour. Patio seating with wonderful view. Maybe it was my mood and the magic of being in SB in January experiencing incredible weather...whatever...I chose this restaurant for the patio and view as I meandered by. A first visit for me and it did not disappoint in any way. Casual, relaxed, easy. After a 2 hour lunch and a 2-glass nod to Washington winery Chateau Ste. Michelle, I was restored ;-)

I don't think you dined at the Breakwater. Our family loves this iconic spot. I think we are on our 15th year. Larry, John, Krista, Lucy, all the other workers who have been there for a decade or more, You..Rock !...Eggs Bene..!!!

Worst brunch place
Reviewer: Rachel from Santa Barbara, CA
One of my worst brunch experiences. Came here on a Sunday morning because friends recommended it, but maybe it's better during the week as opposed to the weekend. First, we waited 20 minutes or so until we had to ask someone to order our food. Second, no one came around to check on us or see if we needed drink refills. We had to ask twice for water refills. Third, my veggie omelet had SO MANY egg shells in it that it was inedible. I couldn't tell someone about it because there were no waiters in sight for the longest time. Fourth - and probably the worst part of all - the entire time we were there, the owner (or manager, not sure) was being so rude and disrespectful to both his staff, and customers. I have never in my life seen an owner be so blatantly rude. He was snapping his fingers at the staff, belittled the hostess in front of multiple customers, and was very selective in how he treated customers. To some of us he was rude, and to others, he would go out of his way to accommodate then (part of him accommodating guests was being disrespectful to his staff, so not great there either). There are many other fabulous breakfast/brunch places in town with better food and service. Unless they improve the service and are better about the quality of food that leaves the kitchen, I will never be back here.

Great place to eat

I have been coming to this restaurant off-on now for 17 years. The service has always been great, Krista, Terri and Lucy have always taken good care of me and I have NEVER and a bad meal. The prices are fair so go there.

Great fish & chips
Reviewer: Phil from Goleta
I've been coming here for over 40 years for the chowder and fish & chips. I've been to the other trendy fish restaurants, and still prefer the Breakwaters chowder and fish & chips. Only once did I complain about the food, and they took care of it! Never had bad service. Always friendly and fast. I recommend Breakwater for a good dinner without the big bill ! They also allow pets on the patio.

unsanitary conditions

I have visited this establishment a good 4-5 previous times. On the most previous visit I witnessed multiple plates waiting to be delivered to tables stacked on one another. The were full of food. This was on a Sun AM. Extreme food violation due to sanitation. I returned to the restaurant today 6/12/13. Ordered mozzarella sticks, clam strips and NE clam chowder. Mozz sticks arrived first and were cold in the center. Note: 5 pieces in a plate serving. 1.5 pieces tested and returned 3 pieces due to not being cooked properly. Sever took mozzarella back as a complaint. I was re-served the same 3 pieces that were sent back to the kitchen. The Breakwater kitchen staff put the mozzarella sticks taken from the table as a complaint and RE-FRIED THEM IN THE SAME OIL USED FOR ALL NEW ORDERS FOR THE ENTIRE RESTURANT!!!!! HEALTH VIOLATION! DISGUSTING! I refused all other food ordered & only paid for the 1 beer and 1 wine ordered. These folks know nothing about sanitation! & I happen to work in the food/bar industry! Do Not Go Here!!!!!!!

Excellent breakfast!
Reviewer: Carole from Steamboat Springs, CO
Ate breakfast outside and enjoyed the food and the harbor ambience. My Florentine Eggs Benedict were delicious, almost as good as our favorite home town breakfast restaurant which specializes in eggs Benedict. My husband's breakfast was also very good, and the fruit cup was especially nice. The service was a little forgetful, but nothing was too outrageous. Did not love the loud music playing at that early hour.
