NOT the burritos
Reviewer: Virginie from SANTA BARBARA
The all day long (and that's good) Breakfast Burritos are aweful. Who puts carrotts in a burrito.. The potatoes are not cooked, and there is no cheese! Over the years I keep on buying them and there has been no changes. So, do not try them! They have other stuff that are decent.

Food is great, owner is rude
Reviewer: Sarah from Santa Barbara, CA
I have been here time and time again and while the pastries are pretty good, the owner is just rude. She never smiles, never says good morning, just "NEXT" She has no personality and was extremely rude to me one time because I was purchasing $4 in stuff and I couldnt' use my credit card because it wasn't the $10 or whatever minimum it was. I am ok with that, and I understand but she was so rude about it. I wish there was another place to go. There is always Spudnuts on Hollister, which is good, but sometimes it's easier to go to Anna's.

A client of mine gave me a Lemon Meringue Pie today..... It looked beautiful! The top of the pie was torched a lovely color... but one bite into it and, well, yuck! Terrible store bought tasting, dry crust, canned fake lemon ????, AND the Meringue was more like melted and whipped marshmallows!? What!? I was shocked that this pie came from a bakery! I expect a real, homemade flakey crust, lemon curd, and actual Meringue! No brainer! Anna is cutting too many corners that it is painful! Get it together! Perhaps a trip to the old country might do you some good.

I agree with Jeremy on this. Business are not allowed to have a minimum purchase for creidt cards. The credit card companies do not allow it. I have had this issue here before and at other places as well. You can actually go visa's website and report places that do.

Hmm next time just get a couple of more cookies Jeremy? (or have $20 on you at all times?). The cookies are worth it there if want to go that route. I thought a business was charged by credit card companies on any purchase(a transaction or interchange fee?) and that the business would pay it as convienence for you as long as the percentage relative to the purchase was low(hence a minimum buy on your part)?

My last trip
Reviewer: Jeremy from Santa Barbara, CA
I have made my last trip to Anna's. This morning I was running late and didn't have time to eat at home. I stopped at Anna's for a quick croissant and coffee. After waiting in line I remembered the minimum credit card purchase policy. I had no cash and wasn't willing to spend $7 for my $3 purchase so I left. Requiring customers to spend a minimum amount of money before accepting credit cards violates the terms of service of every major card company. In addition, it is horrible service. Do the math, 3% of a $1.50 donut is less than .05. Raise the prices by a nickel and offer better service. Who are you to tell your customers how they should give you their money? Just because you see other stores with the same policy doesn't make it good business. The only reason I'm bringing the issue to this forum is because I have addressed the issue with the owners in the past and they are not willing to change the policy. If you are going to eat at Anna's you'd better have cash.

Great Cake
Reviewer: Bill from Santa Barbara, CA
I recently ordered a cake for my mothers birthday. I was helped by the owner and she had wonderful suggestions on how to make the design special as this was an important celebration. The carrot cake with cream cheese icing was delicious and our guests raved about it.

Microwaved breakfast burritos
Reviewer: James from Goleta, CA
I asked if they could make me a breakfast sandwich on a bagel and was first told that they "don't have eggs". Then when I asked how they make breakfast burritos with no eggs the owner explained that the burritos are made in "batches". I saw her throw one in the microwave for me in the back. Somehow it still took 10 min to get the burrito to me. I don't know why it had grill marks on it since it tasted obviously microwaved. The potatoes are raw and the tortilla sticks to the wrapper. There are plenty of other places to get a great fresh breakfast burrito in town, this is not it!! They don't have much of a choice in bagels (no jalapeno or onion the times I've been there, but they claim they sometimes have them), and the ones they do have taste old. They also don't have low fat cream cheese.

Good food, unfriendly owner
Reviewer: Sharon from Santa Barbara, CA
I like to go to Anna's on the weekends because it's fun to sit outside and people watch. I have noticed that the owner with the short brown hair is very impolite; in fact, she is rude. She never smiles, and always acts like I'm a bother when I place an order. Overall, the food is good and the hourly workers are considerate.

Not good
Reviewer: Nancy from Santa Barbara, CA
I ordered their sandwich special with roast beef, Swiss cheese, green peppers, onions and pesto. It was not very good. The roast beef looked like it was some sort of processed meat. The pesto was very oily and made the bread fall apart from the moisture. At many other places nearby. To add insult to injury...the Snickerdoodle cookie was not fresh. There are so many other great lunch places in Goleta/Isla Vista. Either stop serving lunch and concentrate on the bakery or close.

Bad Pasteries/Bagels
Reviewer: Sarah from Santa Barbara, CA
Bagels always seem to be a day old. You would think that for a bakery, they would have fresh bagels delivered, more than a dozen at a time. The cookies are ok. The dream bars are good. Most of the pateries are dry and taste like flower (baking flower)
